Having stood and looked up at that turn in real life at Laguna Seca a couple of weekends ago, I can tell you why.

That turn is a lot, lot steeper than the game actually seems to represent it.
Although the steepness of descent in the Corkscrew is readily apparent in the game, it doesn't convey the true openess of the runoff area, nor the massive descent that goes on as you pass through the turn and under the bridge there.

It's a downright nasty turn, with a deceptive turn-in point and a steep downhill area where a tap on the brakes may seem enough, but really isn't, especially in some of GT4s Supercars & Race cars.
I'm surprised
Jordan himself hasn't chipped in here yet, having experienced the real thing just a month or so ago!
