nope
This is a guide to getting videos from your favourite DVD's onto your PC

what you need for most file types:

  • As much free space on your PC as the DVD uses plus about an extra 300MB for the converted files
  • Up to 300MB of free space on your memory stick
  • A USB cable to connect your psp to your PC
  • At least Firmware 1.0
  • DVD Decrypter - only needed for ripping from DVD's, you don't need this if you've already got the video files
  • 3GP_Converter - search the net for this, for converting the files to psp format
3GP_Converter - Supported file types that i have tested and have worked:
.wmv - standard Windows Media Video
.vob - video file type that is stored on DVDs
.gvi - Google Videos

unsupported file types that i have tested and found not to work:

.avi
.mov

for the ones you downloaded off the net, skip straight to step 2

To get regular video files on your psp:

1.) Insert your DVD into your DVD drive, open DVD Decrypter, click the mode tab and click file, then click go, it will start ripping the files to your hard drive. If you didn't select a directory, it will default to c:\ so you will end up with c:\moviename\Video_TS, so for example if the DVD was called Over The Hedge, the directory would be "C:\VIDEO_TS\Over_The_Hedge" wait until the ripping is complete.

2.) Find the video files which you would like to take, do this by using any DVD player on your PC, rename the files if you wish, or you might just want to take the whole lot. If it is a google video or a .wmv file, then you should already know which one's which. Once you have found the files, run the 3GP_Converter setup, set the language dropdown to English, and find the psp one, you will notice there is 2 psp methods, the first one just converts the to the psp format, the second one automatically renames them for you. If you are lazy or want to save time and have firmware under 2.81 (otherwise it's pointless), select the second one (direct, renamed) then click apply.

3.)
  • Open 3GP_Converter.exe, drag all the files you want on your psp onto the converter window, and let it go, this will take a long time. Once it's done, you will notice all the videos have a name.mp4 file, with a name.thm file. If you chose the first option and you have under 2.81, you will need to rename the .mp4 file to a M4Vxxxxx.mp4 format, the x represents the numbers, for example, M4V86471.mp4, the .thm file will need the same name, so M4V86471.thm, If you chose the second option, this will be done already.

4.)
  • For firmware below 2.8, create a folder on the root of your memory (not in the psp folder with the MUSIC, PHOTO, etc) stick called "MP_ROOT" then a subfolder called "100MNV01", (If you have not already formatted your memory stick) Drag or copy all the .mp4 files and the .thm files to 100MNV01, and your done!.
  • For firmware 2.8 and higher: Create a folder on the root of your memory stick (F:\, not F:\psp) called VIDEO (If you have not already formatted your memory stick) Just paste your videos here and you're done.
To get videos off of youtube, metacafe, dailymotion, etc:

What you need:
  • Video Downloader - Lets you download videos off tons of sites like youtube. Sorry IE users, but you will need Firefox.
  • Replay Converter - For converting them to psp format. You will have to buy it if you want to convert a file more than 90 seconds, sorry.
  • About 3MB for every minute (High quality psp)

1.) Find your videos off youtube, and use the FF extension to download it.

2.) Drag and drop the files into replay converter, select your desired psp format, and click convert. Wait for it to finish.

3.) Copy it to your memory stick (See step 3 and 4 above for details on the folder for your firmware version.

enjoy!:)

1You dont need to rename video files anymore.

2You only need folder called Video in the root directory.

Convert, Drag, drop into drive letter:/VIDEO. Thats it.

Did you try getting near your router and doing network update?

From,
Chris.

yes but i'm having triuble connecting aswell, i've got a thread a couple of threads down about it.

I have a problem. when I try to open the 3GP_Converter.exe file in winzip, it says "Language file directory (languages) not found". am I doing anything wrong?

Joseph.

I use DVD Decrypter, but it does it in the peices the movie was in on the original DVD, in .VOB format, it also has the .IFO and .BUP files aswell.

I am having problems with getting a video onto my PSP, its downloaded onto my comp then I drag the files to the psp folder.

I have moved a bunch of music already and just ended up putting them in the music folder that is already on the PSP.

But with the video I am not seeing any folder called video through my computer. The video is a, MPG4, and the icon on my desktop is a little quicktime logo. When I downloaded the video there was a setting for Ipod/PSP so I used that. But for my music it would not accept Itunes music, I had to convert all my music to MP3, then it was in windows media format? Do I have to do the same with the video?

I read this thread, and tried the files you guys suggested, but I cant seem to find the video on the psp at all.

When I try to do an update my psp says that I have version 2.6 and there is no need to upgrade? Am I S(hit)O(utta)L(uck), or what? But my psp already had the "root" folder along with the "100MN" whatever folder, so I am confused.

Try upgrading to 3.11

How would I go about doing that?

I go to the upgrade thing and it tells me that I dont need to upgrade because I have 2.6, and after that I wont let me do anything.

Is that not what I have to do, or is there some thing else I have to do to upgrade.

Go here and just follow the directions http://www.us.playstation.com/psp/downloads/systemupdate

Then after you update all you have to do is take the mpeg-4 and drag and drop it into the video folder. If you don't have the folder then save all of the stuff you have on your card onto your pc then reformat your card through your psp and it should creat one for you, then just put all you data back where it needs to be:tup:

Hello, I am a newbe to rippin' and I am having a problem. All goes well until I play the results to the conversion 3GP_Converter application. I use DVD Decrypter to get the .VOB file and then I drag that file into 3GP_Converter. Can you please run through the steps or provide me with some setting changes that might solve this problem? :) Thanks, Jabo...
