Tweet Embed Limit?

Just as the title question reads, is there a limit to the number of Twitter links that will be directly embedded before they appear as bare links? I'd prefer tweets that are presented as part of a thread to be visible without users being forced to go to Twitter, and so I pack them into a collapsible quote box subsequent to the initial tweet.
