Two questions about cars and prizes

Hello all. This is my first post but I have been reading these forums for a couple of weeks now, although not signed up, and have learned a lot. I know I am starting Gran Turismo 4 late but since I cannot, as-of-yet, afford a PS3 I am glad to play it.

The questions I have are: 1) What happens after day 700 and you have not finished the game? Do the used cars cycle again or are you stuck on the last day (day 700) for the rest of the game? and 2) Is there a way to guarantee that you get a different color car when you win? What I mean by this is that when you win a race you get a certain color car. For example, when you win the FF race in the Beginner Hall you get the Mazda6 Concept, say the blue one. Now, according to the Mazda dealer there are three colors: Red, Yellow, and Blue; the are called something different but don't remember the exact names. What I am wondering is if there is a way to get the red or yellow car if I already have the blue car? I seem to remember a way to "cheat" Gran Turismo 3 into giving you a different car when you won a race but I think that may have been just luck.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

At Day 700, the used car selection wraps around to Day 1 again and goes through precisely the same cycle, though the colors may change (I forget about that detail).

The GT3 cheat involved reloading the game at the start of the last race of a series until you got the car you wanted. I do not know of any way to influence the color, however.

The way you get mulitple colors of prize cars is rerace the event, clearing the previous trophies and records, the one in which you acquired the first car and still having it in your garage. Then the new prize car should be of a different color or paint scheme, if multiples are available for it. Some cars do not have additional colors or schemes.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee that the prize color won't be the same color as what you already have. It appears to be pretty much random.

I'm working on getting a Plymouth Superbird in every color. I've won this race dozens of times by now and only have fifteen different colors.

Well then I am glad the 700 days restart. Otherwise I would never be able to get those rare cars.

You may want to check out the stickies in this subforum too. They contain a wealth of information.

I did check the FAQs and such but did not find any reference to if the 700 days repeated or if there was a way to make sure to get a certain color car. Of course, I could have missed it or just plain looked it over, there is, as you say a wealth of information to go through.

I actually have that and made some changes (put colors in for rare cars to know when I need to look for them) but I was wondering if it continued after the first 700 days or if the cars for day 700 stuck for the rest of the game. Now that I know that they list restarts after day 700, I have the information I need and I can afford to try to get the cars I want, in the color I want, without having to worry too much about missing the rare cars that I am looking for.
