I was spinning some laps last night and I got to a very consistent pace. Thought I'd mess with different tyres, did best lap on softs, as you would expect then tailed off about a second with each harder compound.

Now, I thought Id try wets on a dry track which (you would think) would be a complete slide fest .. no, I beat my best time on softs by about a second an half with extreme wets !?! what gives ?

I'm definitely trying some wets tonight then lol

Gonna do more testing .. wonder if it’s a bug on the car I was using. The Lexus gr4 reacts massively different

Ok, so maybe not as extreme as first thought.

But using a mx5 the west are definitely quicker than sports soft. This still doesn’t add up to me ?

I would imagine wets are classed as a racing tyre, and may have more grip than a 'sports' tyre.

IRL, wets are also very soft compound to allow them to build/retain heat when there's less friction between tyre and road surface. So they may have more short-term grip in the dry than a sports tyre, but they will wear very quickly.

Yeh, makes sense .. be nice to hear from a racing drivers opinion though. I know through racing bikes wets are rubbish on a dry track, its like marbles.
