Ubuntu, The Easy Way!!!

I had always wanted to try out Ubuntu but I never could because I either needed to format & partition or run it inside Windows using VM Ware. Formatting and partitioning was out of the question due to a lack of funds that would make creating a back-up, not possible. I was successful in running Ubuntu using VM Ware, but a mediocre RAM availability made it difficult to use.

A few months later, here I am. I found a simple and straightforward way of installing Ubuntu without either of the aforementioned options, using this guide from TroubleFixers.com.

Ubuntu is installed basically as a program, and no formatting and partitioning is needed. My CD/DVD burner is broken, so I used Daemontools to mount the .ISO that is downloaded, and worked like a charm. Installing only took about 5 minutes, and within 15 minutes, I was logging into Ubuntu.

Once you reboot your computer, you can choose which OS to boot. I had a slight (not at all significant) problem during boot up which was the short amount of time allotted for choosing the OS I wanted to boot. I don't know if anybody will encounter the same problem as me, but here's the easy fix anyway.

Start>Run. In the dialog box labeled "Open:," type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) and hit OK. Once the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILITY comes up, find and click on the BOOT.INI tab. Once there, your default OS will be highlighted. Now, next to the boxes that say /SAFEBOOT, /NOGUIBOOT, etc., find the "Timeout:" box to the right. Mine was set at 3 seconds, and I changed it to 20. This will give you more time to select which OS to boot.

I recommend installing to anybody with a few GBs to spare (no more than 10 is needed, but I recommend around 15) and I hope you all enjoy Ubuntu as much as I have.
