Did anyone see these two events? I watched both but really wasn't impressed by either one. I've seen better.

With UFC 67 - All or Nothing - we saw the debut of Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. It was interesting to see how they would do in their first fight in the octagon.

Main results:

Crocop destroyed Eddie Sanchez by strikes in the first round. It was an uphill battle for Eddie Sanchez, but in the world of MMA anything can happen.

Jackson defeats Marvin Eastman by knockout due to strikes in the second round.

While Pride 33 - The Second Coming was a bit more interesting and fun to watch. It was definitely a night of upsets. It really surprised me because everyone that I thought was going to win - end up losing... ahhh!! lol

Main results:

Frank Trigg defeated Welterweight Grand Prix Champion, Kazuo Misaki via unanimous decision.

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueria via knockout at :23 into the first round

Hayato Sakurai defeated Mac Danzig at 4:01 into the second round via knockout

Nick Diaz defeated Takanori Gomi via gogoplata in the second round.

Dan Henderson rousing upset over Wanderlei Silva with a knockout at 2:08 in the third round winning the middleweight championship.

Wow who would have known?! Gomi losing to Nick Diaz, Wanderlei losing to Henderson, and Nogueria being knocked out in 23 seconds? Wow.

Pride 33 is definitely the night of upsets.

it was a pretty good event. wandy supposedly has tonselitis and Gomi said he didnt train hard enough. Congrats to Diaz for taking it to gomi and finnishing him with such a low percentage submition.

Sokoudjou was a big suprize since i dont remember seeing him fight before. I'd like to see how he does against other opponents to see ow good his cardio is, and if he really is a contender.

Henderson looked damn good. Misaki has been dissapointing me. Filho exposed some flaws in misaki's fighting style and i think trigg picked up on em.

Sakikabara needs to fire Jerry millen... that guy is such tool.

The most surprising fight had to be Gomi. I'm a huge fan of Gomi and I think he is one of the top in his weightclass (not as good as GSP, Hughes or BJ Penn). However I did not expect him to lose to a guy like Nick Diaz. Diaz is a tough guy but I didn't think he was near the skill level Gomi was.

It was real surprising because Gomi had Diaz in trouble early on in the fight. Then Gomi got really fatigued. That is one of his weaknesses. He got so tired he couldn't even defend any of Diaz punches.

Gomi even tried to stop the fight by telling the ref that Diaz cut is so bad. I think that was a really unsportsmanlike move. Even though I still respect him - that was really classless.

He ended up losing in a submission. Three of his four losses has come by submission.

Loss Nick Diaz Submission (Gogoplata)
Loss Marcus Aurelio Technical Submission (Arm Triangle Choke)
Loss B.J. Penn Submission (Rear Naked Choke)

To sum it up - I agree that Gomi underestimated Diaz and paid the price for it. The thing is that Gomi is still the LW champion even though he lost twice in a span of one year. This is what I dont like about Pride. I think champions should always have the title on the line when they fight.

In a rematch I think Gomi would win. He wouldn't underestimate Diaz this time.

Who wants to see Gomi vs Norifumi "KID" Yamamoto?! I know Kid is a featherweight but it would still be an entertaining fight. lol
