For the second consecutive year, the UMBC men's basketball team made it pretty clear which team was "Baltimore's Best." Before a very pro-UMBC crowd at Loyola's Reitz Arena and a local television audience, the Retrievers successfully defended their Battle of Baltimore title with convincing wins over the host Greyhounds (76-66) and the Towson Tigers (73-54). I made a bet at http://www.wagerweb.com on them on both games, it was just huge, they are playing very well!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'd like to offer my congratulations to the UMBC Retrivers. If you haven't played a college basketball game or haven't heard of UMBC, let me try to tell you what they are about. For one, let's start with UMBC. It stands for the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. The Retrivers play in the Americn East conference. To show you what Athlon Sports' info on how UMBC may do this season, read this:

Second-year coach Randy Monroe has seven newcomers to the program this year, plus rising sophomore guard Brian Hodges, who averaged 16.2 points per game over the last six contests last year. Monroe hopes 6'8" freshman Uwem Eshietedoho and 6'11" transfer Gordon Karacic will be as tough on opposing centers as they are on opposing public address announcers."
On top of that, here's how UMBC is ranked among what Athlon Sports thinks will be the best in conference:
1. Albany
2. Binghampton
3. Boston University
4. Vermont
5. Maine
6. New Hampshire
7. Hartford
8. Stony Brook
9. Maryland-Baltimore County
