So the time has finally come for me to get a new phone. I am on an extremely tight budget, so my options are quite restricted. I currently have a Prestigio 3400, and would like to upgrade to either a Sony Xperia M2, Xperia E4g, or Moto E2. Performance is the main draw for me, despite the budget limitations. I don't really care about the camera, or the display. I just want the phone to handle multitasking well, and to run the odd game. Android Lollipop support is also a concern for me. So what do you think guys? Which one's the best fit out of those three?

The Xperia M2 is (on paper) be the best out of the devices you listed. However, the Motorola is the only one with an official Lollipop update. I'd still go for the M2.

I was also thinking the M2. It might just edge it with the water resistance, but I'm also worried about moving apps to the SD card. Maybe I'll download the M2's instruction manual to find out.

Thought the M2 on paper is slowest. E4g is probably fastest for gaming and web browsing but Motorola E2 should have better support and screen.

It seems like I'm changing my mind and going for the E4g. The M2 cannot move apps to the SD card, is not getting a Lollipop update and the E4g is the cheapest on any carrier over here, and has a 64-bit CPU, so the possibility is still open for a Lollipop update. Also, Motorola is a grey market product here in SA, so I would have to buy it online, so that's ruled out.

It is also about twice as fast than the M2 and cheaper as you say 👍. Hopefully you don't have any issues with it.

My bad. I was assuming that the Snapdragon processor was more powerful than the Mediatek processor on the E4g. The M2 is mid-range, where the E4g is low end, so I was assuming that the M2 was more powerful.

On paper, the E4g has the exact same specs, but with 300MHz more power. What makes the E4g 'low end' is the camera and build quality, and I don't care about the former. @Saidur_Ali is right, and MediaTek can hold their own in the performance game. Just look at that site I referenced in an earlier post and you'll see.

Quite. However, the M2 does have a larger developer community (the E4G doesn't seem to have an XDA sub-forum) if you plan on installing a custom ROM later.

I know. I'm worried about that. The carrier that the E4g deal is on is also notoriously known for preinstalling an unusually large amount of bloatware on their devices. Hmm this could be a problem.

I wouldn't worry about the stock Sony firmware, you should be able to flash a generic firmware file for another region with Flashtool. I don't think it matters if you have a carrier locked device, but I'll check.

Edit: It looks like you can, but I can't find any firmware files for that device. You might be stuck with the carrier firmware. You could always root to get rid of the bloatware.

Like I said, they're pretty much the same on paper, but the E4g's hardware is cheaper. Like @TwinTurbo LM said, the ability to flash firmware from another locale might also be a major point of consideration.

I have a feeling you're leaning towards the M2 based on rep and how good the hardware looks.
