i'm sorry bout that

before the race a roster comes up with the opponent names and the
cars they drive... but theres no info on their horse power or performance mods installed....

is this info never shared?
tnx for eventual replies!

:dunce: grtz d

Gran turismo 1 was better in this respect as you could view the starting line up with horsepower figures before the race.

Suppose it's one of the questionable things that were removed from previous GT's.

*cough* qualifying and race modification *cough*

I think he means "How much power do the opponents cars have?" There's a listing somewhere of what every car in every race has. You can find their power ratings by going to "Race Preview" and looking at the car's horsepower. If you go through it enough times, it will show all the cars that compete in the race.

yeah i checked and your partially right

when i enter the race preview it shows the horse power on the first car that comes
into view not of the others when scrolled to...
and when i re-enter the car roster is changed

MinoltaMan89 is right. You can check their horsepower, but checking out the mods they have is an entire different story. They may be stock or full tuned.

It is possible to find out the opponents' horsepower (or Kw or whatever you use) but it's also time-consuming.

1). When you get to the menu screen that gives you a choice between entering the race and previewing it, choose the preview.

2). When the clip starts, note that it'll be showing the 6th place car. It lists the name of the car, its power, and its tires.. Mods aren't shown, unfortunately.

3). Now that you know how much that car will have in the race (it never changes) end the preview and start another preview. Now, the movie will probably show a different car from that series, and its power. Make a note of it on a peice of paper.

....like I said, it's time-consuming, but it's also possible.

I've oft wondered this. I've entered a race with the same car as one of the AI which I presume is stock, but clearly some mods have been applied to AI car, as I am driving as cautious as possible without sacrificing and coming in a guaranteed last place.

But, I'm squealing in and out of curves while following the same line as the AI, and suffering from understeer, etc.

Long ago, Sucahyo managed to break into GT2's coding and proved that Ai is definitely modified with better tires & parts for some races. Although I've never met anyone who's done the same thing for GT4, it's long been my theory that at least some of the Ai is definitely modified. I can't prove it for certain, tho.

I can prove it pretty reasonably by taking a stock CTR Yellowbird to the Tuning Car Grand Prix and getting outpaced by the AI CTR Yellowbird by a good 4-5 seconds. When I'm going around the large curve in the middle of Apricot Raceway and the AI CTR is going a good 10-12 mph faster, I can be reasonably sure the AI is modified to a certain degree.

Look at the Opel Speedster race. A perfect example of how the AI cars are modded. Try taking a stock Speedster into that race and see how far you get right? Before you know it, you're 20 seconds behind.

Stromgaard has the winning answer indeed. Many threads have been done covering that race, hence making it the most common example around.

Sometimes, the mods used are startlingly obvious, as this picture taken by senamic shows here:

Look at the Shelby, and you'll see what I mean.

I've taken pictures of the Shelby having that much camber at Laguna Seca and Seattle.. I don't know why they do that :odd: ..

I think the Shelby is just an example of poor modeling on PD's part. Its camber is actually normal (no more than 0.5 degrees) but PD didn't "draw" it right. Not that it's not modified with a better suspension...I think it is. But if it had that much actual camber, I doubt it would have any traction.

One thing to note, however, is that it doesn't do that for every race that the AI enters the Shelby into. So in that case it might actually be something related to performance mods, just that they were screwed up.

Also, for another example of cars going faster than they should, you should take a look at the 206 Cup. The Peugeot's there are atleast double the pace of what they should be and takes a superhuman driver to get around them in a stock 206, that's why they're usually boosted to 300hp+ to get around the AI. ;)

well im getting to like the fact the horsepower info ins't shared....
It kinda keeps me alert for the fact that a toyota yaris RS turbo wich is
enhanced with performance tuning can definalty smoke me...:scared:
