Unorthodox Garage - First Tune

Welcome to Unorthodox Garage! The name’s Aaron.

Here at UG we focus on providing tunes for vehicles other garages haven’t tuned. My main concept is to produce responsive, entertaining sleepers. “Walk quietly but carry a big stick” comes to mind. My goal is not anywhere near quantity, but quality; with a side of community. Most of you are probably what I mean by community. Like a normal human bean, video games aren’t first on my priority list, but I still choose to try my best to provide tunes. This garage will rely on a healthy community to provide feedback, testing, opinions, and support because Two brains are always better than one. Once again, our tunes depend on feedback, detailed reviews, and even video reviews!

Thanks

Update: Tune requests will be taken, but accepting them will be held at my discretion.

Subaru Legacy STi Wagon UG Edition ‘03

This “family” wagon was one of my first attempts at tuning while trying to find the turbocharged version of this vehicle with more power. However Japanese this vehicle may seem, its German roots are embedded within the vehicle on a different level. Firstly, we have a Flat-6 developed and designed with input from Porsche. Secondly, it was tuned and tested in the world’s one and only Green Hell. Lastly, it drives down the road solidly, its AWD system is tuned to give you the feeling of security only found in a bank vault, and impresses with its technology.

It’s 400 (399) horsepower might not seem generous, but its setup and footwork allow it to embarrass both the Nissan GT-R and Chevrolet ZR-1 around the Nurburgring.

How is it that you have a 400hp Legacy that does 7:07 at the Ring but only '59s at Tsukuba? :P

Also, you can't really say that it "beats the GT-R and ZR-1" until you beat them on street legal tires at least, if not the same as they're "supposed" to use (sports hard).

I have this car, I guess I'll give this a try and leave some feed back. Thanks.

I love it!! It's great to see another tuner taking presentation seriously. Now I got a lil competition for settings sheet presentations. I also like the way you have done it and I'll take some ideas from yah ( :D ;) )

Good luck on the garage, this is where the game is at.

Hi Guys!

I'm overwhelemed at the positive response. I have a firm belief that the little details are what set you apart from my crowd. This is my first attempt at tuning, and I still have a little LSD, spring rate, and gear ratios to tweak.

About the :59 at Tsubuka, the laps were intended for Photo Mode; so I drove with a DS3 instead of the DFGT that I usually use. At Tsubuka, This car's 215 tyre width limits it's traction when exiting from low speed corners. This tune was designed for the Nurgburgring, which has many sweeping high-speed corners.

However, I will take up your challenge, and make a tune for both Tsubuka, and Racing Hards on the Nurburgring.

Once again, Thanks for the support, and Happy Motoring!

Your instability under braking is the mushy settings on the front end of your car. At least 60% of the weight is over the front wheels when static and near 100% when braking. Its best to make the shift of weight shift as little as possible.

Hi Audi! Thanks for the suggestion. I will be revising spring rates in the very near future to accommodate for the aerodynamics that I have added. I'll play around with the front spring settings and see what happens!

Great job 👍, i love tuner that use standard car, keep up maybe a better photo of the car and only one sheet with the tune it's better :) Nice to see the lap times too and the description of the car.

Thanks Sky!
Could you suggest a way to get a nicer photo of the vehicle?
I put two sheets in for those using Low-Res monitors so they didn't have to scroll back an forth on the stylized vehicle "card"

A tip for the nurburgring for every 100kg, increase the front spring rate about 1 notch. Example, your car is 1235kg, I would have the front around 12.0-12.5. Not only that, you want it stiff enough to not nose dive but not soft enough to glide over bumps.
