Ive been here for a while now, Iv'e come and gone but usually its only because we do not have internet. now we do, are situated in a new place, I am working full time changing oil.

I love the job, but hate the customers sometimes... okay, a lot of the time.

No ma'am I do not recommend using 5W-30 conventional oil in your 2014 Subaru. The manufacturer REQUIRES a full synthetic 0W-20. using anything less can void your warranty. Use it anyway? ok if you say so. grumble.

Car troubles are high on the list. need control arms, (have them but pain to install so I have not yet.) I had to get a new headlight housing because I hit the wall on I94 and shattered my previous one. (had to almost take the bumper off to replace the GLASS housing, damn Volvo! It was expensive too)

Now on to the surgery news!

I have a condition known as Kertaconus. This means that my corneas are shaped like cones. (cornea cones, Kerta-Conus) and there are a few options to help me, Glasses can only do so much, (they help me about 25-40% vision correction.) There are hard contacts which help immensely but are so uncomfortable that I can not wear them. There is a Corneal Ring surgery which uses rings inserted into my cornea to stretch them back in place. my case is to sever for those to help much if at all. i could use riboflavin drops to stop the progression but not cure anything, just stop them from getting worse. and my option, corneal transplant.

Ill update soon, im running out the door now for surgery, but needless to say my corneas are getting cut off and replaced with someone else's. wish me luck!

Updates later today!

*keratoconus. Cornea surgery is so cool. My eyes are so sensitive that I shudder at the thought though. Good luck with surgery. You'll do fine, I'm sure.

UPDATE!!!!!

I survived he surgery. was there at 11, got m3 back around 11:45, changed into gown, the usual, they let me see my wife one last time before I went back, I got rolled on the bed back to surgery. The room was freezing, but they threw a fresh outta the dryer blanket over me and then gave me a nose clip with gas in it. i was not completely out so I WATCHED them slice out the old cornea, and sew in the new one. all while having to remain perfectly still. it was funky but i survived. after my eye was achy but thats about it. they gave me a script for 2 different types of Eye drops and some Tylenol 3's for the pain.

all in all it does not hurt, but it more or less just feels like i have a hair or something in my eye and that sucks ass. I go back today to have them remove my blast shield

Arrrrrrrr Pirate Nick be out for yer booty!

in about 2 months they will do the right eye, after watching how this one heals. so in that time i shall keep you all posted!

Nick out!

Glad to hear you made it out of the surgery and that everything seems to have gone smoothly. altough that "having to see them cutting my cornea" part sure sounds scary :scared:

Ouch, seeing them cut in your eye... Didn't that hurt? :scared: Glad to hear the surgery went well though! 👍

I had eye surgery back in october, not the same condition as you (LASIK for me), but I kinda know what it means, recovery times, surgery procedure and all that stuff.

Great to hear everything went just fine. Just take your time to recover, follow your doctors instructions at all time, use your eyedrops, and relax!! :) 👍

im doing better, i got a mucusy layer over my eye so i can see blur but thats it. I have to sleep with the blast shield on, take the eye drops 4 times a day bfast lunch, dinner, bed and take the pain pills as needed. it sucks but it is what it is and I am holding out. back to work tomorrow.

Healing well. Still kinda looks like i have a zombie eye but its getting better, i still cant completely see out of it for as its still covered in a haze of mucus but that seems to go down a tiny bit each day, i was able to send a full text this morning with just that eye and very minimal autocorrect!

On a side note, I got ANOTHER flat tire. I got one last week, (Wednesday) then i got one on Saturday omw into work. They may be able to replace the most recent flat because it still has tread, this winter + my need for an alignment/control arms has left me with 2 front tires that are completely bald.

I'm getting my Tax return in a weekish so hopefully that will be able to help get the car fixed, then sold, I need something else. FAST.

Anyone in the SE MI area know anything for sale under $1k? lol I do not care what it is as long as it runs, drives, and can handle a commute of about 2 hours every day (mostly highway). Preferably automatic but now is as good a time as any to learn stick.
