Upgradable brakes?

Anyone know if they are thinking of including upgradable brakes into the game, in my opinion brakes are the most important part of the car as there is no point having a fast car which you cant stop. I was stupidly shocked when I found out you couldn't upgrade them in GT5

It is the tyres that are the most important part of a car. They are the only part of the car that touches the track and are ultimately the controller of how quickly the car stops.

Bigger brakes don't stop you quicker. They last longer due to heat dissipation. This only matters if brake fade due to temperature is incorporated.

But TT... I want to put carbon brakes on my 370Z for drifting.

But how do you get enough heat into them to make them work properly?

Or do you really want this situation?

I'll just heat them up with mad angle and smoke.

I hardly use brakes anyway as a hardcore drifter, it's all about super fast entry.

In all seriousness, as Coiler pointed out, sorg found code for brake upgrade kits in GT5 like they were in GT4, but they obviously weren't used for whatever reason.

Like TT said, I'd only really want them if brake fade was an issue.

I hope I'm right in thinking that this, and the other hidden items discovered during the "hack" days, will be in GT6 on launch or at some point in the future.

We can hope.

This is one of the things that would go a long way to pushing the GT series over the top, brake fade. There is talk of a "hardcore" mode when it comes to tire heat build up and dissipation and I think we can see some of that in the GTA demo, and perhaps brake fade will be a part of that as well. One can only hope. In that case, as you said, better brakes will be a necessary upgrade to help with brake fade and heat dissipation. I can't imagine how much more immersive it would be to go without ABS, advanced tire heat physics, and brake fade! Imagine:idea:💡
