Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my Fanatec Rennstand, so it fits better for my CSP pedals, and yet to be easy to remove the upgrade for easier storage. All materials will be from aluminum.

I will take a pictures of work in progress, this evening.

All comments are welcome, and hopefully an idea for others to upgrade their wheel stands.

Hi. Your plan looks nice, but I would suggest a far, far simpler and cheaper solution which does not involve drilling of your stand. I bought industrial strength velcro and stuck it on all 4 feet of CSPs and on the stand and they don't move under any situation. Besides that you can stick a bigger piece of velcro on the stand so that you get some adjustability for taller and smaller people. Oh and pedals don't fall of when you carry the stand around.
This is what I used - It's by Tesa in Europe, but I suppose i'ts sold under Velcro brand elsewhere.
Maybe Fanatec should just supply some of this high-strength velcro along with the stand to prevent any problems. It is a cheap and effective solution. I can't take photos, because I'm not home until Saturday, but I will post something during the weekend.

PS: Don't get me wrong, your solution is good and it will also change the angle of your pedals, which is a plus, but I thought I'd make thing easy for you :)

Changing the angle is why i am doing this, since i don't have any problems regarding stability of the pedals. I like to keep pedals further so it will be easier for me if the pedals are under angle.

Thanks for helping out 👍

Oh then it's a great solution and I hope we see some photos soon :)
I was thinking about bolting my pedals to the stand, but in the end I decided I'd rather not drill holes through it.

Update:

Since rennstand legs are hollow, we strengthen them with additional two nuts, one for the upper and one for the lower wall of rennstand leg.

It took us (with my friend) two hours to build it. The pedals can be adjusted by height and left to right and the pedals don't move forward thus avoiding heel rest to move upwards.

All in all, it's a great :)

Nice job. That looks great! How's it feel?

It feels perfect, we added two levels of height adjustments for pedals. highest one is very good if i am sitting very low, and second (lower) is when I am in a sofa sitting normally.

@Fanatec: the rennstand can be folded, and on lower level it fits perfectly behind living room doors.

Right now, the pedal construction is tighten with normal nuts, but since there is no movement of the heel rest more then 0,5 cm (when really pushing the brake pedal like an idiot :-) for testing purposes) i will replace the normal nuts with butterfly nuts, so i can easily remove pedals and then the rennstand can be fully fold.
With this small construction I don't have a need to adjust brake pedal travel.

I will take a pictures how it looks folded with normal nuts, and how it looks with butterfly nuts.

@Fanatec: It's really amazing what you did with the pedals, it's so precises that it's unbelievable. e.g. i can now easily brake while entering the corner.

It's also amazing what you did. Perhaps we should license your design and produce it.

Every thing can be arranged, if you are willing we can discuss this in further details :). Your PM inbox is full :-(

I will come back to you after we discussed it

ok, no pressure or any expectation from my side. Your acknowledgment or what we have done is a proof that we did a good job.

Fanatec can you PM me your email so i can send you more photos.
We came up with this concept in 30 min and only had 1 and 30 min to do it. With switching from standard nuts to butterfly nuts I can now remove pedals really easy, and Rennstand can be folded to 90 deg.

This is how they are dismantled, takes about 10 sec :)
