Is this something that anyone has thought about? With this being the first Gran Turismo without a traditional upgrade system, and with a traditional GT mode being introduced, are players not just going to install all available power and weight reduction upgrades to gain the biggest advantage they can? Or are we going to see it implemented with no upgrade features at all?

Gran Turismo single player has always been about scraping by with a ****box car for 10-20 races and then plowing money into a super OP upgraded horsepower beast that would never, ever be allowed to race in the same category in real life.

I don't see why this single player would stray from that formula.

And don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I loved my Mitsubishi GTO from the OG Gran Turismo. It had, what, 900 HP after upgrades? I was also 10 and now I prefer actual competition.

When racing against the AI I always go by the maxim of "the ends justifies the means", be it a bit of rubbing (ahem) or using dubious vehicles. So I'd like to see the upgrade madness continue for single player. Though I'm not sure how a garage car tweaked in single player would be represented when used in Sport.

The short answer is: YES.
Of course people would be juicing up their cars, or what would be the point of the upgrades? Not Sport Mode for sure.
And the Mileage? Use it in infinite variations of the colors?

Hahaha, i used that car as well, it was twin turbo and after installed all upgrades i didn't need another car, it destroyed all competition way into the single player mode, it was a awesome car  :).

Don't forget you needed to do the Commercial Car Series, with an unmodified road car... Viper territory :D

Well I meant are they going to keep it in its current form? Where anyone can just use their mileage to max out a car and destroy the competition. Managing your credits in this game becomes a lot easier now because it's no longer the currency of individual parts, which can't be purchased. That's the point I'm trying to make. No more 'I've only got Cr.20,000 to spend, do I buy and fit the racing muffler, or will just the stage 1 turbo give me enough of an edge to win this series?'

Credits aren't the currency to grind in GT anymore, that was one of the things that became obvious from day one. You can only use it to buy cars and the game gives you free cars literally every day.
The currency of the game is the mileage points, because is used for everything else, from special cars, to rims, suits, helmets, paint chips and specially power and weight level up.

So, you would have less options (just more power or less weight), but still have to grind and use wisely the mileage points.

I know what you mean, and I would prefer the same kind of tuning, where you can put the hp on the car, not just defining how much but houw they are delivered. But Kaz and PD think we don't want that kind of game anymore (I constantly wonder if they think the players that played all the other titles since the original GT no longer buy the game ), so they dropped it. I know they will bring back the offline part of the game but don't think the tuning part will get a major overall, that would be to much of a stretch and is easier the way it is on online I guess.
