Hey guys, I haven't been on in...... Quite a while! About a month ago, I finally took the plunge & bought a PS3 & GT 5. (The store didn't have the Prologue) I want to hook up my T-Mobile wireless broadband, which only uses USB to the Ethernet connecter in back of the PS3.

Yesterday, I went to Best Buy looking for an adapter, they said I should try Radio Shack. So for $15 I got a TrendNet USB to 10/100Mbps adapter, (TU2-ET100) says it's Wii ready, so I was hoping it would work. It was actually the only one in the store, so I didn't have much choice. Long story shorter, after hooking it up, I'm left with two USB male connections, so I need another adapter...

I'm going back to Radio Shack a bit later, but does anyone know if this will work with the PS3? The instruction booklet & web page http://www.trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=150_TU2-ET100# make no mention of the PS3.

Thanks for the help. 👍

Are you saying the PS3 has it's own WiFi? I didn't know that, but I can't pick anything up on my laptop at home anyway, so I got the wireless Broadband.

It's better to get a wireless router that can pick up the wireless broadband from your provider than doing a rather backwards method of getting adapters. I would ask them about this.

The PS3 has Wi-Fi built in, it's not like with the old 360s which needed an adapter.

EDIT: And nick09 is right, a good router might be a better choice anyway.

I see what you're saying about the router, but I thought I was taking the most direct route, though. And I'll be calling T-Mobile in a minute...

I should've mentioned that all the WiFi around me is on secured networks, but I'll try it again with the PS3.

Well, sorry, but looks like I didn't get what you meant with your "Wireless device" then. Of course you need a "hot-spot" to access a wireless network, I thought that thing you were talking about gives you one. Looks like you definitely need a router.

You should also ask if you can use your own router if there is a fee involved to get a router from T-mobile(found a nice router here).

I should've been more clear, my mistake. My "device" picks up 3G & 4G Broadband.

I think I have done what you are trying to do, except I did it with verizon. I had to get a router that could actually dial a phone number for me so that I could use it with the ps3 and xbox.
Here is one similar to the one I bought. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Cradlep...113058&skuId=9726376&st=cradlepoint&cp=1&lp=3

Not sure if my situation is the same as yours, but this worked for me.

Seems like that router does not have good customer support and that is quite expensive. The TP-Link I linked to should do the job and there is a compatibility link on the product page I linked to. As far as I know TP-Link is a good upstart company.

I was actually thinking about this very question (well a similar one) earlier today. I want to get internet to my TV's ethernet port but its no where near a phone line.

So is there a device / dongle which does Wi-Fi receiving and converts it to ethernet?

One of the options is to get a range extender(you can have this next to the TV) or the cheapest is to get a long Ethernet cord and install a plug plate for the Ethernet to make it look pretty.

You also can't forget about powerline(direct connection through your outlets!).:sly:

I wish I'd paid more attention to my own thread, I think this is JUST what I need!!:dunce:

Wait a minute, I just wanna pick up Wifi! There are signals close to me, but I can't pick them up just yet...
