Nah. I don't think it beats wheel times in my case at least.
I tried it and it felt weird - I have heard some good things about it though. Maybe I should give it more of a try.

Agreed.
Steering is a lot smoother resulting in much better times, I'm over 2secs faster than my analog stick times using my G27 motion control bodge job
👍
I wish somebody would pull their finger and let me use that wheel normally

I like the motion controls, but I kind of feel like they become very floaty when driving.
I've been using motion controls the last three days (with right stick as throttle, as I was already using, and L2 as brake as suggested) and while it took some hours to get used to, steering input is just amazingly smooth compared to using the thumb stick.
In fact I dare say I'm as smooth now with the DS4 as I am with a wheel (many years of past experience with a G25, plus a few weeks on the PS4 with a Thrustmaster T100 that I haven't been entirely satisfied with and can't be bothered to set up for my gaming sessions anymore).
Obviously for the full driving feel experience nothing beats a good force feedback wheel and pedals, but the motion controls of the DS4 puts you damn close in terms of precision and consistency.
They've also added it to Project Cars recently, but unfortunately vibration feedback is bugged (constant vibration) with motion controls enabled. Rumble effects are never going to be a substitute for proper FFB, but a bit of feedback is a hell of a lot better than none.
My fingers and wrists don't like keeping buttons pressed down for extended periods of time these days. I still hate that The Crew has no remappable controls so I'm forced to use R2 for throttle.
I'll give it a try. My thumbs are definitely more resistant to continued pressure than my index fingers.
Edit: Tried it, don't think that's going to work for me. I don't like the on/off digital feel of the throttle in some corners and when I'm catching a slide.
I believe all the buttons on the DS4 are technically speaking pressure sensitive? But I don't have enough of a gentle touch to make that work with square, cross etc.
