Im looking at a 76 Ferrari 512 BB with 48k on it. Is that too many miles? Should I wait for another one with less miles? Will I ever need it for a race or will it just be a collectors piece?
290,800cr price and I have 4 million.
Limited stock?
To buy or not to buy?

The object of the game is to collect. It’s just been one month and a couple weeks. You can choose to wait and see what the update to sell cars looks like or Buy the 512 and still wait to see what the update to sell cars looks like. I guess a car with lower miles will cost more.
Another thing is, how ever much you spend, you can make it up with a race or two.

The mileage has little-to-no effect on the used cars, unless you get unlucky and the oil/engine/body is worn - I don't think this is very dependent on the mileage though, as I've bought cars with <10,000 miles that have worn parts, but others with 60,000+ which are in perfect condition.

Mileage doesn't matter - all the cars I've picked up in the UCD except for the 18 that are there before you start the first menu book were in perfect condition.

At the current state of the game, once you're through the menu book, just about everything is essentially a menu piece. I don't see the 512 BB being a good grinder candidate.

I bought a Porsche 930 a while ago, never used it till yesterday to build my own version of the yellow bird and everything was normal. Had to refresh everything to get it all up to excellent. Think it had about 58000 miles on it. So it’s possible to buy and theyre not perfect.

I don't recall seeing a 58,000-mile example of the 930. There have been, including the menu-book special, three 930s available for purchase at some point (plus the 0-mile one you win during Menu Book 31):
  • A 52,561-mile example available between 3/3 and 3/11 for 215,500 Cr.
  • A 30,622-mile example available now for 219,700 Cr.
  • A 25,005-mile example available while one worked Menu Book 31 for 220,800 Cr.
It is possible that the cars available early on (before version 1.06) had wear; I didn't pick up GT7 until a week late.

If you want to wait months or even years for a low-mileage version go for it, but you're not going to see any performance difference. Worst case scenario you have to pay 130k to get everything back to excellent. That's about the same amount it costs to get a set of each of the 5 racing tires... Run the German car race at St. Croix/Nurb and you'd have the money in 7-8min. That said, of the roughly 80 cars I've bought in UCD, 3 were either Normal or Worn for oil/engine/chassis condition, the rest were excellent so even high-mile cars can be excellent. Have 5 Testa's and 4 were excellent and one was worn. So it seems to just be a dice-roll if you get a worn car

One of my 930s( the other is the 0kms Menu car) has over 80,000kms(no oil change, overhaul or body rigidity) and I can assure You, I didn’t add 30k, as my Gr.4 is my highest mileage used by me car, with over 3000kms. I bought the game pre-order.

It may be mate. I bought it early.

my mistake, just checked in game and it has 52000 odd miles on it. Definitely had to refresh everything though as it’s the only time I’ve seen the engine rebuild animation. Getting old. memory not what it once was. 😂

I was worried about the mileage thing until I realized: if I’m applying power restrictor to car that I drive 200,000 miles… the engine element of the “wear” isn’t as big of a deal if it mainly impacts HP.

I think the Tomahawk boys have shown that even a thousand miles of 200mph wall riding costs some maintenance and maybe a few HP.

At the moment the car is of no use. If you like the car just buy it, it's fast to earn the 48k back in a matter of seconds and don't care about the mileage.
There aren't many races were it can be competitive at the moment, has I can recall. To win the Ferrari Challenge it as to be heavilly upgraded and tuned to keep up with modern Ferraris. At Alsace 1 hour mission as to be nerfed to meet the 450pp limit, so you wouldn't miss one or two HP.

Then wear was definitely part of used cars in 1.05, and removed from the rotation cars by the time I was able to start buying them.

It's a good 600PP car.

My understanding is that the mileage doesn't really mean anything in GT?

Just refresh the cars engine and rigidity and its essentially a new car?

7000 miles and I lost 4hp over stock, so it's still at like 1002hp. With the Tomahawk X glitch I have 3000 miles on that car and have made a habit of changing the oil every 3 races. Had to rebuild the engine but to my knowledge I haven't lost any HP. As long as you stay on top of oil changes before it gets to "normal" or "worn" (whatever the yellow condition is) and rebuild the engine at yellow it would take 200k before you'd need to buy a new engine

Pretty much. Keep it maintained and it's essentially meaningless.

You do end up losing HP eventually even on a freshly rebuilt engine. But since PP isn't affected, yeah, it's meaningless.

I don't think mileage has any correlation to the condition of the car:

Both of these came from the UCD and I don't think I've put any miles on either of them, if I did it was only maybe a lap around the Nordschleife at most. I think the lower mileage one was bought when the M3 cafe menu was active (I wanted another one so I'd have one with 0 miles).

Yes, I have a weird E30 fetish and own several more, all of which are completely unmodded, except for one with a fully customizable diff. The lower milage one is the only one I have with 'Normal' conditions, the rest are all 'Excellent'.
