So I went and grabbed a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (pre-used from Gamestop, no scratches) and when I put it in my PS3 (which is also a brand new one, 2009 Slim) the game loads up to the Polyphony Digital screen and then it goes black and the disc skips, noisily may I add, in my PS3. I waited about 5 minutes the first night I got it then decided to call Gamestop to see if I could exchange. Well they didn't have another copy at that time so I decided to give it another shot. Tried it again, about 6 minutes later the screen was still black and the "scraping" sound of the disc skipping about (as if the lens isn't reading the disc properly, although I should say that every single game I have works properly, just not Prologue) continued so I gave up, for now.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Or is this game suppose to do this, possibly installing the data (do you even have to install this game or does it just load directly from the disc)? If it is a problem with the game and my system, possibly being incompatible then I won't bother going and getting a new one. I don't see why that would be a problem as my new PS3 is only 3 weeks old and has never had problems loading a game.

Some SPECS:
Sony PS3 120GB Slim Black
My PS3's serial # begins with : CG218XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX1A
1 Sixaxis controller.

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong sub-forums or if there is already a general discussion on GT5:P problems.

I just wanted to update this with a solution in case anyone else has this problem in the future.

Disconnect yourself from the internet so that no updates will be able to install, then start up the game. It should still hang at a black screen for awhile and then ask you if you want to install GT5:P on your PS3, click OK. After it installs press the PS button on your Sixaxis and Quit the game. Back at the main manu Sign In so your PS3 goes back online and then start the game again. This seems to have fixed this problem. Now I am finally up and running.
