Once again, great work Schwadegan, and everyone involved! đź‘Ť As you've noted, notice of issue #2 has been posted on the blog.

A few notes: When linking to the PDF file hosted on my servers, please use the bit.ly link (bit.ly/GTlife_12-06-2011) instead of directly linking to download.gtpla.net. This will ensure the public download statistics for the file remain accurate. Also, to editors and proofreaders in the future: please write the site's name as "GTPlanet", without any spaces - that's just a small pet peeve of mine. Thanks! :)

Will do. Did the 30,000 downloads you mentioned in the post count only those going through your bit.ly link or did you include those from issuu.com as well?
EDIT: I just checked stats for the old bit.ly link, and I assume you added the amount of readers I mention in this second issue to that figure?
(every pet peeve counts ;))

That's correct, I added the download numbers from Issuu and Bitly, then rounded up due to all of the direct links to the file (I've not checked the server logs for exact numbers).

I recon the numbers are accurate enough, even a couple of thousand off and they still would be tremendously good in my opinion. :)

I'm loving this 2nd issue, by the way. I'm savoring it.

Having read the first half of the latest issue, I have to thank all you guys for the second time! It is a very good read, even though I would argue with some writers about their opinion ;) but well that's how it should be, so it's perfectly fine! I'm already looking forward to reading the second half and many following releases!

However, it is a bit of a shame to see that many mistakes in it! I'm no native english speaker, but saw quite some, not misspelled, but double words or wrong placed words in it. I don't know, but do you reread the articles before you release it? I mean it's not too bad, but can and should be avoided! Maybe just give it to 1 or 2 other people to read it and they will see it, I know how this is and sometimes you can look at a wrong word somewhere for 100 times and still not notice ;)

Edit: Just saw that I'm not the first one mentioning it ;) So nevermind...

Edit 2: Had to finish reading! I want more! But PLEASE CROSS-READ NEXT TIME it gets worse and worse!!!

Hey GTLife guys, just had a look at the first two editions and this is a great effort! - I work in graphic design and digital media myself, so I hope the folks out there appreciate the time and effort that goes into putting this together.

Wonder whether a "pimp my ride" style section or story might work?; perhaps a regular section that features idiotically modded cars (I'm thinking here of my fabulous orange "Mazda Cosmo" that I fully upgraded - with a wing of course - just for fun :dopey:).

Might have a go at writing a story for the next edition - quick question though: how do you get such good quality images off your PlayStation system?

Awesome work guys! Loved the GT300 article.

These cars are gems and proves horsepower isnt everything! BIIIGGG!

You guys have done it again. Cant wait for the next issue!

GT500 next? :)

I know this is a big problem and something I really do want to eliminate to the extent possible. However I tried to ask people to help me proofread the magazine before release and I got response from two nice guys who helped me with some of the stories. Correcting bad grammar and spelling mistakes is a very tedious task and I can't blame them for not doing the entire magazine in the short time I gave them.
In the future I'll send them material earlier on in the production so that they'll have enough time to give them all a good read. But I sure could make use of a few extra proofreaders when the next final issue is 'done' to give it a last overview.
I'm not defending bad grammar, just the fact that we need more people to help us eliminate it :)

Maybe, I don't know. No such article is written yet though ;)

Thanks, yeah one or two pages on the subject could be fun I think.
To get your photos off your PS3, you need to first export the photos from GT5 to the XMB, then with a USB copy the files from your photos folder to it.
If you need more guidance, search the forum as I'm sure someone has had the same question in the past đź‘Ť

eh, threw it out when I saw "Bugatti Veyron vs. McLaren F1"

First of all, there is no basis in which to compare these two. They have no connection with each other, they have completely different appeals, and they were both designed for different reasons. The article completely misses the point of either car. Not only this but it was crudely written. Many grammar mistakes.

This is the only complaint I have with the mag, but it is one of the biggest issues I have with "user contributed material." Just saying, if you're going to create a big old comparison article - at least compare two cars that have business being compared and have meaning or a point. McLaren Vs. Enzo would've been a much better comparison with more suspensful analysis. McLaren Vs ZZ-II would've been an interesting read - just how good of a buy is the ZZ-II? ... lets compare it to a 1 million credit super car! The results would be interesting.

But yeah dragging the Veyron down from heaven so it can run laps with a McLaren F1 just isn't right. The Veyron wasn't built for any conventional purpose, which then makes it far too unique to be compared with anything really... it's quite out there in a league all its own.

I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy the rest of the magazine just because you found one article not to your liking.
The person who wrote the article obviously wanted to compare the two cars and share his results with the rest of the community, thus there must be some interest.
Also, you're more than welcome to write your own article, such as "McLaren vs. ZZ-II". If not maybe you could give us a hand and provide with some proofreading before the next publication since that is one of our main concerns at the moment.

Such as both holding the record of being the fastest 'STOCK' road legal production car? To me that seems like a perfect reason for a head to head review.

I think its a great magazine, I was pretty impressed by it, nice work. Looking forward to future editions :)

Mag looks great, only wish I had the resources to print it on glossy paper like a real mag. Hope I get my Group B artilc done before the next one.

First of all, there is no basis in which to compare these two. They have no connection with each other, they have completely different appeals, and they were both designed for different reasons.

Firstly, I have to say that's pretty ignorant to throw it out after reading one article (the first article no less, "never judge a book by its cover" or in this case first page...).

Secondly they are both designed to be the ultimate driving machines. Bugatti set about doing this by making the quickest road legal car but made it available to your average joe (who has a spare ÂŁ700,000) with average driving capabilities (hence 4WD) whereas the McLaren is the ultimate road car with the highest top speed of its time but also making it Mid-engined, rear wheel drive & a central driver position all to keep the centre of gravity in the middle of the car for the ultimate drivers car. One's been noob-proofed the other is for extreme pro's but both do a very similar job.

Just because you don't want to read about it doesn't mean others don't, I personally found it a good read, although now I have to go buy myself a McLaren (been putting it off for too long).

But I agree that spelling and grammar was poor in parts. Found some of it hard to follow after having to re-read a couple of sections to understand them.

First, big Kudos to Lenny (Schwadegan) for all his work, and to all the contributors - it takes a lot of time to get an article done, let alone compose and layout the entire mag!!!

The download numbers speak for themselves, it is a great and worthwhile effort that the GT5 community loves. I love it for sure ! :)

Now, regarding spelling and grammar: GTLife is an effort of the international GT community, and unless we get more volunteer language editors to whom Lenny can forward material, clumsy English is an issue that won't go away. I was one of the guys who did some proofreading and correcting. One of the articles I did was garbled to the point of being unreadable, and I had to work a lot to make it even comprehensible. It is just this way - foreign language education varies a lot across the world. Doesn't make the mag any less great!

Maybe it would be a good idea to ask contributors to have their texts at least (a) spell-checked by their computer and (b) read by some friend whose English is decent.

Most importantly, if your English is decent, just go ahead and volunteer as a language editor. This is the reliable way to make the poor English go away :).

It would probably be easiest to forward texts that can be edited to these editors, rather than sending a bunch of corrections back to Lenny that he then has to work into the text?

That's actually not a dumb idea at all đź’ˇ I'll give it some thought and then maybe present a new way of managing submissions of articles. đź‘Ť

Poor english is no excuse excuse for double words ;) But they know and they know, that they can ask most regular GTP readers/posters to read over! At least, I would help, if I'm still around when the next one is ready...

Ah, finally it's already arrive!
I enjoy reading it especially the GT300 part. And the photoshoot one. đź‘Ť
Though there're some grammar mistakes and some lost words, but it can be improve. :)
Glad my article (Le Mans) make it to mag. :D

I almost finish my second article. I just don't have that much time to complete it like the old days. :indiff:

Hory clap!!!:eek::eek::eek:

The issu page says >63000 views already!!!

:gtpflag:

Awesome!

Haha I noticed that, and it's almost 80000 now
Almost seems to me like this is some kind of error on issuu.com, but if not that number is mind blowing!

Found one more fun thing today; http://www.gtdrivers.it/ have posted an update named "GTD Idea Magazine ... "We Want You!"", probably an offspring from our Gtlife since I've gotten a lot of referrals from their site linking to the new magazine on Issuu.
I haven't investigated further though since I didn't have access to their forums and didn't bother creating an account :)

To the complainers, a bit of context!

The people putting this together volunteer their time, their passion and their skills. No-one is getting paid, no-one is asking you to pay to download and read the articles.

Yes there is some clumsiness in the language used, but as not all contributors are Booker Prize winning authors, or have English as a first language, I think that these things have to be taken with a pinch of salt. They will be worked on for next issue - and instead of moaning about it, volunteer to help proofread an article. đź’ˇ I have just offered to proofread articles for the next edition as a small contribution to continue improving the magazine because I don't want this idea to die in the face of a few negative comments. The number of downloads surely says something!

If you don't like the choice of cars for comparisons, consider putting fingers to keyboard and write your own article. We are all interested in this game and each others thoughts on it, which is why we all congregate together in this forum. I for one may not necessarily agree with the choice of cars featured, or like the focus of the article, but I respect that someone has felt passionate enough to write about it and contribute. It's more than I've done so far! :dunce:
