Using Gameshark to alter car body shells

Hi there

I have recently started playing GT2 again, after playing it when it first came out but this time I am playing it on my PSP.

I have the original NTSC game v1.2 on an original disc, an original US NTSC PSX and Gameshark 5 and I am creating my saves on that but transferring them to the PSP for playing.

So I thought I'd have a go at using some gameshark codes, and I stumbled across the info about the whole heap of parts/cars that PD left unused, but I am getting a bit lost with the hybriding codes required to obtain them.

I wish to change a GT40 I have so it has the GT40 MKIII body shell (or any other body shell) but I am not sure how to do it.

I have read pupik's site and I have also seen this site - http://gthybridcars.www5.50megs.com/GT2 Hybrid Basecodes list.htm

From what I have read I have deduced that I need to enter the Bodycode 1 and Bodycode 2 codes, have the GT40 in my garage at the top of the list, start up GT2 with the codes enabled and then the body shell should change.

So for example the code I would enter in Gameshark for changing the GT40 body to the GT40 MKIII body would be:

801cd5e4 1f58
801cd5e6 505c

Please could someone tell me if this is correct?

Also please could someone tell me how I go about changing the dealer I can tune a car in, I wish to unlock the Vauxhall cars but as there isn't a Vauxhall dealer I would need to change them to Opel, I have found a list of codes for the dealers but I don't know of any basecode to use or how I would use it?

And as a last question - please could someone tell me if it's possible and how I go about changing the name of cars, in particular the Mercedes CLK Race Car and the VW Polo (and probably the Shelby GT500KR) so they don't appear as (R)-- or as no name as some do when in the garage and elsewhare in the game?

Thanks in advance for any advice on these matters, I am amazed at the amount of stuff that PD left out and I salute all the people who found out how to put it in. :)

I can't answer your question sir, I'm just a belhop. But some one else should surely be able to help you.

That part about copying the disc for PSP might not fly with our rules, unfortunately. Sony & PD don't officially condone such recalcitrance  But if there's a problem, you can always just talk stuff out via private message.

Umm yeah thanks, I did see a thread somewhere here about emulation = piracy, but I have the original disk/PSX/gameshark etc and I'm "hacking" the game on the PSX so I wouldn't agree with that, but if mentioning that I'm playing the game on the PSP after using the GS to "hack" the game is against forum rules here then I guess I shouldn't have mentioned that and I apologise for doing so.

Anyhoo I worked out how to do it. I was correct, I do just enter the code as I gave it in the OP.

I also found a workaround for the Vauxhalls (which people probably know anyway), I just changed the bodies on the Opels :D

I'm not sure if it is. Don't worry about it, nobody's gonna kick you off the board or anything, I was just trying to warn you before somone else does.

Very cool.

I still have the paper work for all kinds of cheat codes and hybriding info for GT2.

Some of the codes I created that were at builders site were:

IROC race at the race generator.
Drive through walls
2 second quarter mile car
slow motion driving frame rate code
tire traction codes with blow out controlled from opponents controller

I should still have all the engine and parts codes. The body codes. Hidden track codes.

I did not think anybody cared about GT2 anymore.

Modifying cars in GT2 with gameshark was the only reason why i ever bought the gameshark in the first place.

I had an 890hp Mazda RX7 and a 1011hp Nissan R390 GT1 '97. Boy i miss playing GT2 on Playstation (I use Bleem!).
