Using other pedals with DFP Wheel?

Has anyone tried using pedal from other kits with the DFP? Is there anything special in the pedals that makes a difference?

I am asking because I recently ordered the Gamester race pack from woot and would love to strap the DFP onto the top somehow but the pedals are just built right in...

Alternatively, I'm wondering if the better Pro pedals will work with the DF wheel.
If nothing else, maybe the DF wiring harness can be used with the Pro pedals.
