Hi all,

I have always been into aviation, but just until recently have I been immersing into serious flight simming. I am considering buying a yoke but no rudder pedals... They're both really expensive and I can only afford one of them at the moment. Have any of you flight simmers ever tried to use the pedals on the DFPro, DFGT or G wheels as rudder pedals?

I know this is a weird question and I know that in order to use the pedals I would have to connect the whole wheel AND the yoke.

I could try this myself (I have a DFP) but I also want to know if any of you guys have had experience with this. I can imagine it would be a bit unconfortable, considering the pedals aren't the same shape (the gas and brake pedals have different angles and travel distances). Any input?

I've used G25 Pedals before :) Its a bit awkward with different resistance and that, but still feels better than, in my case, twisting the stick.

G25 is incredible easy modded to get the same resistance though. Optimum would be able to use clutch and throttle for the rudder pedal action though.

I don´t remember where I find a method to use clutch and throttle. It´s a bit of a hassle though. the old MOMO Force Red pedals is the most comfortable rudder pedals I ever used. I have the Saitek and CH Rudder pedals too. The Saitek pedals are bigger and bulkier but a bit more configurable then the CH rudder pedals. Those are really no frills just business pedals. They give you toe braking and a more realistic foot action. With rudder pedals you generally push back one foot when you push the other forward. It´s a bit weird but you get used to it.

btw do you have a good joystick. Joysticks are more versatile then yokes. If you are just going to fly big boeings and such of course get the yoke. But it´s much easier to fly with joysticks even though it´s nice with the more hands free flying yokes encourage.

Saiteks Yoke is pretty good bang for the buck. I would stay clear of the CH yoke I never liked that one.

Thanks for your input Ollie, glad to see this is possible.

oqvist, I have an old "Sidewinder Precision Pro" I bought in windows 98 times. The box and software still read "Made for windows 98"... but the thing is still going strong. I want to make things a bit more realistic, and am focused on civilian aircraft. I'm currently focused on single engine small planes, like the 172. The reason for this is that I'm currently learning the basics and have gone through basic flying, traffic patterns, ILS, VOR and all that. Regarding the Yoke, sadly where I live finding this kind of hardware is next to impossible but I was lucky enough to find a CH yoke at the local Best Buy, so that would be my only choice. I have no idea where to look for these online (on local stores, I really can't pay for intl shipping) so that would be my only choice.

Oh, and I don't have a G25, I have a DFP... the DFP's pedals are very similar to the pedals from the Momo, right?

They are a bit different. But from what I remember they don´t differ that much in resistance and such. It will of course work fine :)
