You're giving a very biased view of the incident.
WELL FOR STARTERS...........INGALS A ********!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's not a real good argument now, is it?
CAMS found that both Skaife and Ingall were at fault, both being found guilty of careless driving. To extrapolate from this, with help for Ingall's comments:
"He started it by trying to drill me off the track (earlier). If he wants to play hard ball, two can play at that game," Ingall said. This is what the CAMS stewards found from their hearing - Skaife gave Ingall a nudge and Ingall pushed back. For this, Ingall lost 70 points, Skaife 30.
If it had ended there, it may have been decided in race with a drive through (like the one given Murphy after he spun seton off) or a stop-go (more likely as it is considered a harsher penalty) Physically jockeying for position like this is common in v8 supercars and happens all the time. The only significant thing about this is that one of the racers lost a spot in the championship and the other pushed too hard.
However then Skaife had to go and lose his cool in two ways. First, he stayed on the track and had a go at Ingall. Second, he physically went into SBR and laid a hand on Ross Stone.
For this he was found guilty of bringing the sport into disrepute and was given a $10000 fine and 75 points.
For swerving at Skaife, and possibly (wasn't at the hearing so it's claimed but not confirmed) giving HRT the finger after a pit stop, Ingall got a much harsher penalty of $15000 and all points of the weekend.
Both drivers were given a suspended 3 race ban.
FYI Ingall is appealling against bringing the sport into disrepute, Skaife is appealling against careless driving.
So I don't think Ingall is the idiot you make him out to be, certainly the CAMS stewards didn't think so, and I think Skaife got off lightly compared to Ingall when he was IMO more guilty of disrepute.
