Last night we took my mother in law out for her birthday to a local restuarant. Keep in mind we had 12 people total in our group ranging from all ages. The waitress approaches and asks for our orders. Starts with my mother in law, then goes to me. I tell her what I want and she goes to the next person. At this point I am looking around to see what she is writing on or if she is putting it onto an ipad or something similar...nothing. During this process 2 of the members of our party change their order. She takes all 12 of our orders without writing anything down. No pencil no paper, nothing. So we are all discussing this thinking ok lets see just how well she does when the food comes out.

About 10-15 minutes later and she starts bringing out the food. To our absolute amazement she got every single order perfect and knew the exact person to bring the food to. I am 34 and in all my years of eating out, I have never met anyone that could do this. 12 people! She remembered the drinks, the side orders, and the main orders. Just way beyond impressive. Lets just say thats one of the largest tips I have ever given in my life. In fact my tip was almost as much as the meal. 👍

It's possible that she has an eidetic memory. In fact, from what you have said, I would say she does have an eidetic memory.

Edit: Might sound like a waste of a gift, but not when you consider the large tip that you (and others likely have) gave her.

We asked her about it at the end of the night and she said since its a family owned business they wanted their employees to train themselves to memorize the orders. She started memorizing 2 per table and then worked up to 4 then 6....... Now clearly 12. Very impressive.

I saw the thread title and was expecting some pictures of said waitress. Wishful thinking, it seems...

Me too :(

But I also encountered that, guess when you work a long time in that line, you need some challange.

She'd make a good wife. Especially if you have 12 sandwiches for lunch.

I thought she was either overqualified(photographic memory), or had hidden a portable recorder in the pocket.

I still think it was a portable recorder. It's a gimmick trick to get more tip out of customers.

I love servers like that, and those are the ones that really deserve the tips. The last place I was at messed up our orders (there was 2 of us) then when I asked for a refill, waited till she brought the tip to refill my drink. Then the debit machine tried to add a 20% tip...decided to pay in cash just so I could pay without the big tip.

And my orders get messed up going through the drive-thru. :grumpy:
Mickey D's, I get two cream, two sugar with my large coffee in the morning. I swear, about 30% of the time, they get the number of cream & sugar messed up. I just go with the flow, "ya, that's correct!". If they only spoke English..... but seriously, they are all sweethearts. lol

Sooo...where are the booty pics? I know you didn't drag me up in this thread and not provide booty pics.

We had a guy like that down at a wing house. (Or some establishment like that)
He toke notes but the impressive thing was that you would go to take a drink and there would be a full glass where the half empty one used to be, and you didn't notice him at all.
He was the drink ninja.

Now that is someone who has very good memory! Or maybe they just play Simon Says too much :dunce: .

Lol, it could well be under the table though. Next time I see a waiter not writing down my eclectic order I will search under the table and if I find it I'll request free desert!

I highly doubt they would give you free desert.

Hahaa! Sounds like Training Day.
" you mean to tell me, you were on patrol with a hot female partner and the best story you can tell me... Is a DUI pullover"
To funny.

I came here because I wanted to see a picture of a hot waitress. I'll never forgive this.

Nice to see GTP's rampant sexism still hasn't let up. 👍

I've heard that at some high end restaurants, the wait staff are expected to remember people's orders.
