Veyron on All Stars Championship?

I've just acquired a fully tuned Veyron for the purposes of the Gran Turismo All Stars championship (Expert series). Based upon my first few races, I'm pretty sure it's possible to use this heavyweight to win. But I'm having a bit of trouble.

The tuning that I got with the car isn't bad, but either I'm much worse at this game than I thought I was or the tuning really isn't suitable for these tracks.

So here are my questions: Has anyone successfully completed the All Stars championship with a Veyron? If so, would you mind giving me some tips on how to tune it for optimal performance against my more nimble opponents?

One last thing: Unfortunately, I have to deal with a malfunctioning Driving Force Pro that doesn't measure my pressure on the throttle very well. If you happen to have a tuning setup that requires extremely careful throttle control, please let me know so I don't go spinning out everywhere!

It's really not possible. The difference being a race car can take some acute angles of speeds upward of 230km/h while the Veyron has trouble turning at 130km/h.

The only way I know about racing is through Gran Turismo, so I probably don't know as much as you do, but from my experience the high acceleration that the Veyron can produce in most cases offsets the speed gained by a faster turning speed that a race car can produce. This is especially noticeable when the gear ratios are low. This should, along with minimization of understeer, adequately hold back the race cars, at least long enough to finish in or near first.

One main problem with this theory is that we can't adjust individual gear ratios yet, so the only way to increase acceleration is to decrease top speed which is not at all good on the 'ring, for example.

I'm really just looking for a tune that will help me maintain the most stability under heavy acceleration without sacrificing too much speed around the corners.

I'm not saying that it'll definitely work, but an initial test run resulting in a bronze in the first event makes me want to investigate further ;)

Good luck h2g2guy! I've got a Veyron too as a prize car, but I had given up all hope after a test drive because it was just baffling except for its speed.

Heh, thanks for the encouragement! Ever since I saw the Veyron for the first time on Top Gear, it's been my favorite car ever, rivalled only by the Lexus LFA, which I also saw on Top Gear. You can pretty much tell from the info in this thread where I get all of my information on cars.

So somehow or another, I'm certainly going to try my best to make this work!

It won't work dude...the Veyron is a heavy pig. If you think those LMP cars are slouches on the straights, you're wrong.

That's like putting a stock car in a Formula 1 race. It may be faster in a straight line, but it can't brake or change directions at speed like F1 cars can. The Veyron isn't mean for track duty, it's a "look at me" car that really isn't good for anything other than getting attention.

To be really clichéd:

"The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little more time."

I'm not saying that LMP's are 'slouches on the straights', but I do know that a fully tuned Veyron can get to the front of the pack on the first straight and, when driven carefully, can hold its own during a corner. It's the entrances and exits that I really need to work on.

I'm also not saying that I'm not wrong in thinking that this is feasible for me. What I am saying is that you may be overgeneralizing in saying that it's impossible for anyone.

Get the Veyron to the front and block like crazy, may be possible?

I know it doesn't work because I tried it with the tune posted above. As soon as you hit the first corner you get left behind, bumped off the track, or both.

Make sure you record your attempt and save the replay for us.

I tried both tunings posted so far.

The first felt a bit worse than my original tuning (which I'll post in a little bit...not sure why I didn't think of that earlier).

The second, with a few modifications, fits my driving style pretty well. I'm gonna run a test race right now.

Thanks, majortom420.

Alright, here's the update: Until my tendency to falter under pressure caused me to crash near the end of lap 4/5, I was able to maintain 1st place without any intentional blocking necessary! All I need now is to get used to the handling, strengthen my nerves...and repair my sticking pedals :indiff:

Thanks, everyone, especially Gyro1780 for mentioning the tuning that did it for me and BlueShift who made the tuning!

Oh, and by the way: I did save the replay. Unfortunately, I don't have a capture card or anything, so I can't share it here, but I'd be happy to share it with anyone who wants it. And I'll save the replay when I succeed as well, so if you want that one I'd be even happier to share it!

Edit: I should mention: my PSN is the same as my username, h2g2guy.
