@Obelisk recommended that a thread be made for this.

I'd heard that he wasn't doing great, but this still hurts. He built Edelbrock into the company it is today, and he still raced classics when he could. Edelbrock is almost synonymous with performance, and I've known about Vic since I got access to the internet.

Rest in peace, Mr. Edelbrock. Thank you for all you've shared with the world.

One sad fact of hot rodding being one of the seminal parts of car culture is that its heroes and icons are old and already leaving us. Vic Jr was not a pioneer but he indeed took on where his dad left and built a true speed parts empire, a company that has done more for performance than basically any other I can think of. A pilar of the automotive industry, and a true enthusiast too.

If there's one thing I hope he gets remembered for above all else, it should be that he put significant time, effort, and money into keeping the hobby that is hot rodding alive for future generations. He took pride in sponsoring events and competitions for high-school and college students to promote the hobby to us younger ones. He also made sure that people that brought their cars to events his company sponsored were taken care of- especially if they needed help with their cars. The legacy of the parts line is undeniable, but he cared for the people in hot rodding as much as he cared about hot rodding itself.
