Hi Milefile

InterVideo WinDVD can take screen shots of any movie while your playing it in your DVD player of your PC....you just watch the movie and press F10 (if i remember right)...it then places the jpg file in a folder under your installation folder....you can take thousands of shots from one movie...and the resolution is very good.

i am sure PowerDVD does this as well...

Do you know what version? I have WinDVD and my version doesn't do it, probably because it's an OEM distribution. I've looked at Intervideo's site to upgrade, but I didn't see any mention of that particular feature so I don't know which upgrade to get.

Yeah i got PowerDVD, it does just that, resolution isn't great, but that may just be my pc

I seem to remember the same thing happening for me. I came to the conclusion that the resolution of the jpeg was the actual resolution of the DVD. It was something like 640 x 480 which isn't bad, but nothing special either. At least I had a shot I could play with in Photoshop.

Hi Milefile.....yes, its WinDVD 2000...OEM

go to the Help menu and type in Capture...it should tell you.

the resolution is the same as the DVD itself...(vga 640x480)...

Yeah that's what I did. The button it tells me to push (on the GUI) is not there. And it also says that some OEM versions don't have the feature. You're also supposed to be able to press P but that doesn't work either.

Oh Yeah,...P thats the button (not F10)...

how do you know is not working?

have you looked for the file?, you dont know it does it, all you should see is a new file in a folder buried with your
c:\program files\intervideo\caputre

something like that, have a look. i am sure this basic feature is included in your version....

what version are you running?

I'm not sure and I'm not at home to check. I'll try again tonight. Maybe I just missed the folder. What would it be called?

errr...i am working from memory from 3 years ago here...

its under c:\program files\intervideo.....etc

do a search under that folder for .jpg files and you should find some in a folder called 'captured images' or something like that...

would you like to download a *ahem* copy of the entire application?

cheers buddy..
