Video Editing

Hi everybody i hope this is the right place for this. I am looking for a good (free) video editor that lets you add 1 video file to the end of another or lets you split 1 video file and insert another into the middle of it. I also need a program witch lets you add text to your videos.

Currently I use VirtualDub, but I'm still a noob at this point, I only joint some movie's together seemless

Precisely. With a bit of fiddling around, anyone can make some awesome videos in that. Just the visual effects are a bit lacking... The only thing is, it'll only export in wmv. It'll open in WMP, but not a lot else.
