Video Games No Longer "Murder Simulators"

I believe that it depends on the person itself. I agree that video games are definitely not "muder simulators" (You must be a horrid idiot like Jack Thompson to believe that rubbish). However, it is known that many children and preteens purchase games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto despite that they are simply too young to play those games. And, if the slept in school too much, might make them extremely frustrated and make them do stupid stuff. ON the other hand it's more like the parent's fault that they are playing those games so again, you can't call them "murder simulators". And even if the gamer is older than 18, he/she simply needs to go to the nuthouse if they are THAT mentally unstable.

I've always been of the opinion that someone has to have some severe psychological issues to actually be influenced by games (or other media, for that matter) to commit homicide. Blaming video games' or other media's influence is hardly more than a sleight of hand to divert people's attention from issues that are harder to resolve. Like social or economical issues. Much easier to just point your finger at the gaming industry, if you're a politician.

Aside from that, yeah, video games aren't that much different from other recreational media, are they? Not very surprising that someone noticed that eventually
