This weekend the Brazilian V8 Stock Cars raced at Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Close to the race finish, Gualter Salles (#99 Chevrolet Astra Sedan / Texaco - Vogel Motorsports), was touched on the back by Guto Negrão (#27 Chevrolet Astra Sedan / Medley Sports - A.Mattheis). Nothing wrong with that, since it was a normal "race accident". The problem was the bump on the grass that made Gualter Salles literally fly and overturn in the air and then land in front of the paddock acess tunnel.

What's incredible and a very good news, is that he didn't had any injuries at all (apart from probably having some pain from the crash itself). He still in the hospital in observation though.

PS: The race was finished after this accident, by Red Flag. The winner was Ingo Hoffmann (#17 Mitusbishi Lancer Evo VII / Filipaper - AMG Motorsport), Avg. speed of 200,96 Km/h, 2nd position was Felipe Maluhy (#33 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII / Terra - Avallone Racing) and finishing 3rd was Luciano Burti (#14 Volkswagen Bora / Petrobras - Action Power)

It looked relatively "normal", almost like he would have been able to continue until the side of the car dug into the (what looks like) wet grass. Incredible that the car went over the barriers and down to the paddock access tunnel and I think we can all admit more incredible is that reports say he is fine. I guess the car did its job, huh?

Fibreglass body go BOOM.

Glad he was ok, that certainly was a nasty one.

One of my online buddies, who lives in Brasil, and watched it on the TV live, said that the drivers family is convincing him not to race ever again.
