I like Craig. He's got some great insight. But he routinely uses his position as a F&F Guru to comment into other automotive topics as if he knows them just as well.
Why do we care about Mustang & 911 production numbers in comparison. "Yes, the Mustang is 1/4 of the price". There's also multiple variations of the Mustang and the 911 to easily dwarf the GT-R which remains fundamentally the same across its trims. The sports cars dying approach also seems misleading considering how absolutely strong the used sports car market is right now (and used market overall to be fair). Furthermore, Nissan
themselves is bringing the Z into the next generation, so clearly the sports car market is still there for them to invest. The current R35 numbers in the US also mean nothing as well considering the car has been on the market for
14 years; it's quite clearly long in the tooth.
The emphasis on Nissan deciding whether to listen to their owner base or create a car that will need to go down a hybrid/electric route to meet regulations is a more interesting topic, but ultimately, regulations will still win & Nissan is smart enough to create a GT-R that can still cater to the sports car market.
Again, I like Craig, but I think I'd prefer to listen to
@R1600Turbo when it comes to Nissan insider information as he's been the one up to speed on the incoming Z.
