The new Viper was first introduced as a concept in 1999,known as the GTS-R Concept,it uses a double wishbone suspension in the front, and independent suspension in the rear for susperior handling, the car is in produstion as we speak, and only come in RT/10 (roadster) form at the moment. The RT/10 is already in production (as stated above) and is some reason called SRT/10,the reason for this odd ball name,i do not know, but anyways heres more info-The Viper RT/10 (or SRT/10) is running high torque so,well it needs a VERY tough gearbox,i dont know much about the guys that made and desinged the new viper, but they picked a EXCELLENT transmission, with 6 speeds and a reverse (of course,it needs to back up,its street legal)the BORG-WARNER T56 Transmission sends the heavy car blazing to 0-60 Miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds!!!,beat that chevy!!!!,the chassis frame has been changed and altered a bit,not too much since its pretty much the strongest and lightest ever built. The Vipers Engine,a unique powerplanet mounted up front yet still behind the front axel powers this hissing snakes's rear-wheel drivetrain,The Engine consists of old fashioned technology, push rods, yes are still being used, and well the viper pushes old muscle car technolgy to the limit,With a 9:1 compression ratio, its no wonder it produces 500 BHP at a 6800 RPM (revolutions per minute) rev range. The new design consists of a more agressive look, but less snake appeal, the desingers, for some reason had to ditch the side look, which now sort of look like corvette vents, but they wanted to ditch the clamshell hood, why??? you ask, well because it costed nearly $500-$800 to repair. The logo has been changed as well, and if you noticed the sidepipes, yes, sidepipes. They are back, but dont look as nice as the old 93-97 RT/10's in the olden days.Well thats the low-down on the 2003 viper, and i hoped you enjoyed reading it...........
