Viper

I got my Viper up to 1,100 HP, which is cool but I found it's really hard to handle on most tracks and cars slower than me can easily beat me.. How can I make it handle better? I have all the handling upgrades, but it's still hard as crap to drive..

see the problem is out of every turn I it shifts really fast and by the next turn I'm going too fast...

I don't know anything about gear ratios so I didn't bother to buy a transmission upgrade... I've thought that raising the ratios would stop the gears from shifting so fast right? how high should I raise them if I do?

also what Racing Tires should I get? In the middle, or High Traction low life...will they help much?

Thanks.

Are you kidding?

You've upgraded all the power, and suspension, but not the transmission? The transmission will help you turn that power from the engine to the ground. It also gives you an extra gear to help with that.

OK, first things first, you've got too much power in the car to control it. Dump it down to 700hp.

Turn on your TCS, set it at 4. This will help you control the applicatino of power exiting a turn.

Start braking earlier. This will help keep the car stable entering into the corners.

Yes, tires help traction. That includes accelerating and decelerating.

You've made obvious statements, that a little bit of thought would have shown you an answer.

Can you take the next step, and apply what I've told you and learn your best way to control the car.

Good luck,

AO

It sounds obvious also, but if you're going to fast you could always try not mashing the throttle to the floor.

GT3, and to a greater extent GT4, rewards good control inputs. Try switching to the analog sticks so you can get finer control over the inputs.

Okay...well obvious to you...:P I know little about cars... well I knew tires would help but I mean witch ones? I got the medium-Soft ones I think.....doing the gears helped a lot! I used the auto adjuster thing and put it way up toward wide...around the little dash there... on more straight course I brought it back down a bit toward sport... so that helped me win the Beginner GT Championship.... though I got silver on 2 tracks, and 6th at one...

my Traction controll is on...but I don't know anything about how to set the # like you said to put it on 4.... guess I'll look for that then..

So tell me this, do you think the Viper can get me much further than I am now (not being the greatest driver) or should I look for another car? I remember in GT1 I think I had a Skyline up to 900HP or something (I think it was a Skyline...I know it was a 4wd..) and it had great handling....but I looked at Skylines in this game and the HP looked low...I don't know what it will do if you upgrade it..

I bought an Evolution and maxed it out so I could do the evolution races, but I realized it cost me like $130,000 and didn't seem worth it so I loaded my game...

now I have about 250,000..

so if you could name me a nice car that is easy to drive and can help me get further in the game that would be great.

Thanks again

(by the way...what do you mean to switch to analog sticks? can you controll the accelerator with the right analog or something???)

You should have a read through the Read This: Look Here Before You Ask thread at the top of this forum. Also check out both the Settings board and the Writeups board. All of those places will give you a wealth of information.

Thanks... I did read that thread... I skimmed it atleast and clicked on the Best Car link and best overall car link.... guess I'll check back and look it over more.

Hey Man,
I love the viper the power you can get with it is amazing. I started out with it as my 3rd car following the Mustang SVT. I used to do the super speedway 150 mile endurance race. Throw on some superslicks and you'l only have to pit a bout 4-5 times and you get 200,000 cr. Also as a reward car you might get th F090s or something like that. It handels great and will help you win everything up to halfway through Professional mode.

Yes, it is not bad car. You just have to adopt your driving style to it, to get full out of it. Be smooth and brake early. Slow into corner and fast out. And main thing: be smooth as much as you can.

I tried using the right analog stick for acceleration yesterday... it was pretty cool....but I tended to screw up some turns because I was too focused how how much I should accelerate...but maybe once I get ahold of it I can do better with it... I can't decide whether or not it is gonna help me or not....

It made a big difference for me. I switched about 5% into the game and never looked back.

then I'll probably stick with it and learn to get used to it...it felt weird not hitting gas and brake at the same time like I sometimes do (pressing x and square with the same finger) but I guess it's better.... just hope I never need the Emergency brake :P long reach :P well I guess if you drive good you don't need it

i idnt see this being mentioned earlier but if he has trouble slowing down buying the sport brakes and balance controler can really help you slow down a lot quicker

hey, does anybody have the Viper GTS-R Concept? I DO!!! Well if you don't then ha ha!!!!! You're missing out on the coolest Viper in the game.

How to get it:
Do the professional championship races OR get all golds on S license :)

I love the Viper so much more in GT3 because it acts more like it should but I still wish it had GT4's SRT-10 engine sounds. :grumpy:

@tallicafan2k5:

If your new at driving/ the series, try arcade mode to get a feel for the viper. It's not the same, but it'll help a little.

If not, then switch to r3's and just practice and do short races. This helped my uncoordinated step-brother to the point of him actually winning races in the Sunday Cup!

If it can work for him, it can work for anyone.

The main thing is to practice. Practice makes perfect.

Good luck, & welcome & stuff @gtkingjon...
