Here is more info regarding the SBR issue:
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/latestnews/newsdisplay.asp?Ind=M&gid=11976

But the decision can go against SBR. CAMS as well as AVESCO etc are about as consistant as a MotoGP 125cc race.
From the above article, it sounds as if it was a genuine mistake and the penalty seams much too harsh for the violation (wouldnt be suprized if there was more to it).

Yeah Lowndes has had a shocka with FPR and I wonder whats gonna happen to him next season. Bloody poms cant do anything right and have really screwed it up for him this season.....;)
The only time you'll get a severe punishment for something, by CAMS and/or AVESCO, is if your name is Greg Murphy.

Tough break for Murph too. He's really struggled this year. Yet he is still in 5th place in the points.

hello all. i just have to say, sucked in ambrose!!! u lose all ur points for the queensland 300 race and u deserved it. hahahahah. and im glad i was there to c it. ahahaah

And what was it exactly that you saw? A car with so much more straight line speed than any of the others? A car with so much grip that it didn't have to lift off in the corners? A driver who was so pumped up on illegal drugs that there was no possibility of the driver making an error? Or did you see a tiny piece of wire coming from a usually unused section of the Engine Control Unit that didn't even connect to anything?
I fink u r a wanka n u shud fcuk off back 2 whatever hole u came from. And while ur at it, go back to skool n c if u can learn propa english. Most pepl round here try to post decent intellectual (intellectual 1.a person who uses the mind creatively 2.involving intelligence rather than emotions or instinct) replies n it prolly dun matta 2 any of us guys if u neva come back 2 this fread again.

Dislike him or not, he didnt deserve the penalty and I'm pretty confident that he'll get off. I think the decision has been given down in haste and CAMS prolly didnt know where the wire was coming from or going to and assumed that it was altering ECU signals (hey, its cams were talking about here).

But how about that skaife. I kinda feel sorry for him (even though he is a bit of a tool) as ever since he took ownership, his performance has been going downhill. Bad luck for Bowe aswell in queensland as he would have done well I reckon. But I really hope Lowndes moves to another team or FPV pick up their game and start developing the engine here and not in England.

If the appeal is unsuccesful, Steve Richards could end up winning the championship, without winning a race, and that is seriously ****ed up 👎

I would like to see Lowndes stay with FPR next year. Remember, FPR are run by Prodrive who also run the Subaru World Rally Team, the Ferrari/Prodrive team in the FIA GT Championship, the ALMS and Le Mans and the British American Racing team in Formula 1 not to mention all the other partnerships they have had much success with in the past. Clearly this is not a team who is there to make up the numbers. V8 Supercars is quite different to anything they have taken on before and last year Lowndes finished fifth in the championship while Lowndes and Seton picked up second at Bathurst. The ingredients are all there for this to be a great team. I hope they can just supply their drivers with an engine that not only holds together but delivers a decent amount of power to complement the progress they have made with the rest of the car this year.

not really. you have to be consistent to be consistent.
and he has had an almost faultless year so far.

and with this. i find it a bit........dissapointing, with concern to fpr, that they cant even make their own engine, let alone make it in australia.

FPR's engines are built in their Melbourne workshop. The previously mentioned engine team is here to supervise the engine building and implement a bit of quality control. After a race, FPR don't pack their engines up and send them to the UK for servicing and rebuilding. What is going on in the UK is research, testing and development of FPR's five litre engine. Their recommendations are then passed on to the engine builders in Australia. The entire engine program will reportedly be moved to FPR's Melbourne workshop while the engine team is here sometime in the near future. They didn't have engine dramas like this last year. Perhaps the problem lies in some of the trick bits Prodrive is telling them to use in their engine. That is what the engine team is here to find out. Hopefully then the cars can spend more time on the track than in the pits.

man, i was at the qld 300 on sunday. it was awesome. My camera's battery died so no photos, sorry guys. sitting at turn three, all the action was there. In the warm up, when steve ellery ran into the gravel trap, he was coming straight for me, bit of a scare there. still mad **** though, sitting there in the dust and heat. i saw garry rogers, cameron mcconville, jason bright, russell ingall, steve johnson and warren luff. it was awesome. ddi anyone else go?

Yeah the race points are such that consistency is rewarded ( too much ). Thats prolly the only thing I hope changes appart from a little const cutting. Lowndes situation is kinda like what Webber is facing in F1. But unlike Webber, Lowndes will prolly still be with FPR next year. How awesome would Lownds/Ambrose combo be.
Nonetheless, we are garenteed some AWESOME tin top action here in Australia for quite some time to come unless some tool changes too much. ;)

Radicool02 has this years HRT car as his avatar and has listed it in the favourite paint schemes thread as his favourite. Well it's going to look a hell of a lot better with 05 on the side of it at Sandown and Bathurst. Yep, Peter Perfect is doing the enduros with HRT and Jason Plato this year.

twas awsome, did u go on sat as well. the batercard swim suit competition wasnt half bad ;)

Well i guess he was still fined because the car was in breach of the regulations but not in such a way to provide an advantage.

If SBR had not received any punishment for this breach it sends the wrong message to the teams, drivers, etc.

From the cams website:http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?PageID=Article&ObjectID=408

The Court said that the revised penalty was comparable with previous decisions relating to ECU loom irregularities but was more serious and reflected the ultimate responsibility of the team manager to ensure conformity with rules that were strict for good reason. The Court also took into account the previously unblemished record of the appellants.

Serious! Man that is great and I will be at bathurst so thats better! I can't wait!:D

EDIT: He is very serious! Read this...

A Holden Racing Team VY Commodore pulled into pit lane at Queensland Raceway this morning, bearing the famous racing #05, with the names of Peter Brock and Jason Plato on the side window. Brock the 9 time Bathurst-classic victor and Plato the British Touring Car ace who drove with HRT in the 2000 enduro events will share one HRT Commodore and regulars Mark Skaife and Todd Kelly the other.

This will be Brock’s 36th and final trip to Mount Panorama for the 1000k event - the circuit where his remarkable success in Australian Touring Car racing began in the late 1960’s.

“It’s a fitting finale really” said the Bathurst legend. “My first drive in the Bathurst classic was for the Factory Holden Team and so will be my last! It’s a unique place and a unique race and to be part of it once more in one of the HRT cars will be very special.

“I’m not making any predictions but we’re in a one of the best cars going around in the HRT VY and, it’s not as if I haven’t been competing what with my Nation’s Cup commitments and things like Targa Tassie. Jason (Plato) has won a BTCC and notched up a few wins lately so we should give a good account of ourselves.

“I’d like to thank Mark (Skaife) and HRT, Holden and Biante Model Cars for the opportunity and all I can say is – roll on Sandown and Bathurst!”

Brit Jason Plato has a British Touring Car Championship to his credit with Vauxhall and this year is well placed in the UK Series in his Seat. He raced in the 2000 Aussie enduro series with HRT and is keen to return Down Under for another crack at the Mountain.

“I hope the weather is better this year as all I remember of Bathurst last time was non-stop rain for about 6 days! Mt Panorama in the wet isn’t the place to make your debut at that circuit in an Aussie V8 Supercar!

“I’ve been a huge fan of the annual Bathurst race for years, so to get another run around the place alongside a legend like Peter Brock doesn’t get much better for a driver.” Said Plato.

HRT owner and lead driver Mark Skaife said the thought of having Brock join the Team had been around for a while.

“I’d been thinking about having Peter involved since early in the year and the synergy of having him start and finish his Bathurst 1000 career with the Factory team made a lot of sense. His achievements and success there is part of why we’re here.

“I had a chat with Peter and with Holden and we all agreed it was a good idea so, it will be a special moment – one to enjoy; I know the Team is proud to be part of the occasion and I’m sure the fans and the media will respond to it.”

Holden’s Director of Performance and Racing Ray Borrett reiterated Skaife’s comments.

“Peter’s ties with Holden go back many, many years and he and the brand are synonymous. As it is going to be Brock’s last Bathurst 1000, driving for the Holden Racing Team is a fitting way for him to end a 36-year association with the track.”

yer i know aye, “I’d been thinking about having Peter involved since early in the year and the synergy of having him start and finish his Bathurst 1000 career with the Factory team made a lot of sense. His achievements and success there is part of why we’re here."

ahh so true. good ol brocky he was awsome driven them torana's all over the place too.

radicool02
They did count it...I think.
Nah they didn't. I remember the commentators going on about it being Brocks tenth Bathurst win, when Murph crossed the finish line.

If that was Brocks "10th" Baturst win I'll eat my bloody hat, what a load of crap

It shouldnt count as it was a 24 (anyone say staged?) hour race and not "The great race"

Good news in that Ambrose got his points back and the appeal was upheld
I heard it was the chief whinger of the paddock, Larry Perkins that dobbed them in

THAT ****ING BAST*RD!!! Ambrose should lose all of his points. He's a fa**ot. To show that I'm not biasd. Skaife should lose his points too. Murph should get their points. He actually deserves them.
