i think i have a virus on my pc and the internet home page is a different one from what i use and this tool bar i can't delete and i scaned it with norton and spybot and nothing is showing can someone help me get rid of this :(

It's not a virus, iit's spyware. Update Spybot and scan, then download Adaware 6 update and scan. After that change your homepage back to what it was.

From the update button within the program.

Once you find the source of the problem, you might want to disable the ability to change the homepage (IE only).
  • Start > Run. Type in regedit.
  • Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
  • Right click in the right hand pane and select New > DWORD. Name it HomePage.
  • Right click on the HomePage DWORD you just added and select modify. Change the value to 1 and click OK.

This should disable the ability to change the homepage. If you want to change the homepage, change the DWORD's value to 0 to enable the homepage thingo.

Make sure you backup your registry before to the above tweak though, as it's way too easy to go stuff your computer through the registry.

That's for XP, right Shannon?

Is there a way how to do it in Windoze 2000? I cant find the internet explorer folder within the polcies folder.

Hmmm, Winguides says its for all versions of IE...here's the article. Alternatively, if you have Spybot, you can lock the homepage by going to Immunize > Lock IE Start Page Aginst User Changes.

Actually, I've found that all you need to do is just create the directory needed and it'll work. I'll attach a .reg file for you lazy buggers that couldn't be bothered doing it themselves.
