So, I somehow developed a virus on my computer that has been a real challenge to get rid of. It's called the: Windows Vista Recovery Virus. http://removevirushelp.com/how-to-remove-windows-vista-recovery-virus.html

I have tried the above guide, as well as many many more, and no matter what happens, it all just comes right back. THe only way to get rid of it is Rkill, but I can't finish it off in Malwarebytes, in fact, Mbam won't even run anymore. So, now, I'm stuck. I'm thinking of just throwing the thing in the garbage, but I want someone to at least help me figure out what to do.

I've had 2 different pc's come in this week with that virus. One was a laptop that I managed to get cleanded, the other desktop I was not able to remove the virus. It's not an easy one to deal with, if it's your pc and you have a set of recovery disks, I recommend just using them and not dealing with the virus.

How may I ask..?

I did the steps in the bleepingcomputer thing very, very carefully with a combination of Rkill. Needless to say, I'm going to triple monitor that computer, I can just use the Laptop to surf the web.

You did everything in safe mode right? Also make sure to uninstall MBAM just in-case it has been infected and reinstall it again. Clear all restore points if you have any. Also download ccleaner if you don't have it already and then run it to clean all your temporary files. Make sure to update your Flash Player to the latest version, if you have Java, then update that to the latest version and same goes for Adobe Reader. Finally update your browser to the latest version and install all the Windows Updates.

I personaly would do a clean install if you are planning to use triple screen and as the main desktop PC. If you don't have 64bit OS then you might have a bigger potential to get a rootkit virus and you might have one if a new virus comes back soon.

Aren't Root kits the ones that change your Google Search stuff?

I updated all Java, and Adobe Reader data, as well as uninstalled most of my programs, uninstalled Internet Explorer and put in Firefox.

Going to remove another virus that I haven't had the time to remove, the Google Redirect. Best thing is I know how to do this one as I had to do it to my Laptop. For some reason my Laptop came with the Google Redirect.

Malwarebytes anti malware works good for these types of viruses, at least in my experience when I've gotten payed to fix messed up computers.
