Visible aero solutions in GT5

I got this idea in my head where in GT5, after altering the downforce levels in the pre-race menu, the game puts on front splitters, a different rear wing, etc. to show that the car has physical changes to show the set-up. When I play GT4, I find it kinda dumb that a Sauber C9 in a ultra-low downforce set-up for La Sarthe racing in Suzuka with the same look to it.

I doubt PD will implement it, but if they did, the immersion factor becomes even greater to me. But I think race teams will be hesitant to allow PD to model different solutions as it is sensitive data that other teams could steal.

I agree,if u set front downforce then i want to see canards and or splitters, and as rear downforce is increased the blade of the spoiler should change its angle.

I really hope Gt5 impresses when it comes to tuning..like choices of exhaust tailpipe and so on

That's it.👍

No different fancy spoilers, just a different angle and I'd be satisfied.

Alos, yes, being able to change the front downforce and not being able to see a front splitter or canards was very dissapointing in GT4. Still, I imagined an underneath splitter, like alot of the Ferrari cars have. It satisfied my reasoning.:)

It would also be awesome if a splitter or canard came off after hitting something, and the car looses downforce as a result. But that's probably a bit complicated to do.

I want to add any aero parts personally not have the game add them automatically if I increase aero.

well, there is a possibility.. didn't some of PD's demos shows display a screen where the cars bumper was taken off? and that could be done all bodyparts of the car.

I think aero parts should have set amounts of effect on a car, with realistic customization of the part (wing angle etc...).

Well we have seen that (for some cars at least) damage affects performance, and we have seen bumpers flying off, so maybe it wont be so complicated to implement.

Certainly seeing the affect it had on the car in the Top Gear episode where they did the Silverstone 24 hour race, it clearly should make a huge difference if it gets damaged.
Its aero bits like this that I'd really like to see implemented in the game!

Increasing or decreasing downforce shouldn't dictate what parts are installed, what parts are installed should dictate if and by how much you can increase and decerase the downforce.

Ideally you would pick certain aero parts like a wing, you then set the level of downforce by adjusting the wing angle (not by replacing the wing with a different one) and job done. If you need more downforce than that wing can provide then you could buy a different wing which could provide a higher level of downforce. But you do not decrease downforce by replacing the wing with a smaller one or removing the wing completely. Though both methods can decrease downforce from whatever setting your current wing is at all you need to do is change the wing angle on the wing you have. I wouldn't like to decrease downforce on a car and have the computer decide to change the aero I have installed, that's not right. I would like to choose parts myself to install and then what parts I have bought should dictate the aerodynaic ranges I can tweak.

I don't think so, Forza 2 models reduced downforce due to damage, and to visually have pieces come off? Well we already know they can do that.

Here's hoping 👍 I personally have long wanted to see aero kits in GT

Well, they stated in an old tech demo (think it was where they were explaining the poly count) that they modeled each part individually, so that they could theoretically be replaced with whatever could fit. I'm assuming this is going for 9 main sections: front left, front right, rear left, rear right, roof, hood (bonnet), trunk (boot), rear bumper, front bumper.

For the game to automatically set the canards and splitters in place for you, it should be only for the actual race cars PD modeled. Say like the Audi R10, where the splitters and rear wing profile were modeled in different angles and placements and are implemented when the downforce levels are changed by you at the menu.

I know it's off topic, but I would love to see in Garage TUNE options menu when you change TIRE, or Wheel Sizes, Chamber, suspension options, I would love to see the car, and see a live change as you change the sliders. Lets say you change camber, camera zooms in at the wheel and you can see how much you are changing.

I've always been a supporter of this, especially after playing LFS. I think that a visual representation of what you're doing to the car would exponentially help newcomers who may be confused by the scrolling descriptions alone.

Put the two together and you got a great tuning section.
