Hey,
Im new to the forums, was going to post on the Tuning request thread but dosnt look like much is going on there at all.
Im from a long line of retro/classic car forums and so my main joy of GT4 is retro cars, the main of which is the Volvo 240 estate/wagon/etc that I and other on one perticular forum love! (very sad i know :dunce: )

So, any body got any in depth tuning/ setup guides for the Volvo 240, settings and what to buy for it? I was quite suprised when I went to buy 'go faster' items for it and could only get it up to around 270 bhp, would of thourght you could of been able to get such a beast of a car to a higher bhp output.

Cheers all, GJM

Dude im totally there, i was stoked when i saw the 240 GLT was in the list, and then a bit worried when i couldent buy it... but i got me a second hand white one...... i went the way of turbos and nitrous of course, and bought all the usual bits, but only the 1.5 way lsd, its all it needs, custom gears and suspension, with the mean as pimped volvo with mags and a large wing on full boost and with nos it seems to top out at 150-165mph so dont make the gears useful beyound that range, and if you do the motor work too it (port job + balance) you get 1000rpm in the redline too, dont forget. the volvo has the most suspension travel of any car it seems, so you need to get it as low as possable i gave it 1 inch above min and put the spring rate to double default, also damper bound should be about half that of rebound... but im still experimenting.... so far i did a 8.38 around the ring.... know i can do better... and if you get the wing, you dont really need any downforce, its heavy enough and dosent really go that fast, and it will just slow it down more.....

Need to be signed onto the Turbobrick forums to see the thread Bad760, dont suppose you could copy and pate some of it could ya? :)

What bhp have you managed to get ya 240 to Onedarkhorsee?

Im still experimenting with the whole in depth tuning thing to be honest, expertimenting and a Ford Tanous (or however you spell it, its called a Mondeo here in the UK) got it to 400bhp, done all the gear ratios to get the acceleration nice and quick and a high top speed of 170mph :dopey: Just trying to get the handling something like good now, not doing to badly, got a spoiler which is helping a lot and cornering isnt to bad now, just a lot of wheel spin when turning slightly.

Try this

Brakes: 24/24
Springs: 11.5/12
Ride Height: 132/132
Shock bound: 6/6
Shock rebound: 8/8
Camber: 2.5/1.0
Toe: 0 both
Stabilizers: 5/6
1st gear: 3.596
2nd gear: 2.688
3rd gear: 2.097
4th gear: 1.706
5th gear: 1.447
6th gear: 1.154
Final: 3.800
Auto: 1
Driving Aids: All Off
Downforce: 30/30
LSD: 30/40/30

Cheers Bad760, it now handles great! Never realised it could handle so well, sticks to the roadd like a fly on a lump of cow turd 👍
But the gears are kinda hmmmm, very nice alleceration but a top speed of only 115, eek! Beat them all off the line and round the twisty stuff but end up in 6th as soon as ya hit the straight :scared:
What gear ratios have you got?

It's not my setup it is a fellow turbobrickers setup so i couldn't tell you what gearing I have in my car.

The final drive ratio is for a specific track, not sure which one though.

Just adjust the final drive ratio up to about 3.3 or so and try from there, then keep adjusting it until you find the right one.

Sorry for bringing this up again, but I just did a search for the Volvo to see what other people came up with so far.

Want more information? I'm from TB, whatcha want to know? If you're interested in hearing how fast we've gotten them to go, well, just setting them up for ONLY top speed, and driving very well, we've gotten them to go over 180mph... Crazy I know. The thing that pisses me off the most is the huge exageration of weight in this car. They've added like 1000 extra pounds to it's real life weight, and on top of that, you can only tune it to 280 something hp where people in the real life can get that with what would basically be considered Stage 2 Turbo modifications or so. But then there are the people who are running around with 400hp versions on the street, and then in sweden people with over 600hp with these things.

If you do everything to the Volvo, and toss some racing tires on it, the brakes are immediate, the handling is great, and the acceleration and top speed are crap. It's like the car was made for twice the horsepower, and then there might be a good balance between chassis/brakes/power. Oh well...

You can see the times that we've got going on HERE if you can't log into Turbobricks.

Yeah, seriously, why in the world would we want to do that? Lol.

I was wondering who you were Kiwibrick... Bring it! I just got started on my own game save finally, and have yet to modify a 240. I took out the S60 though and got dissappointed by it's FWDness, not that I was expecting anything different, but it sure held me back from winning against real sports cars... :( Oh well. Lol, peace man!

johanca
the weight of the car is wrong in the game!

I think its 1860kg or so in gt4 but should only be arond 1400kg!
I know! It pisses me off! If only they got that correct, and then had a stage 4 turbo or something, then it'd make sense and the thing would actually be competetive... Kick some Impreza ass for sure... Hehe.

Lol, we're just playin man :-D. Brand loyalty that's all. But have you seen the Group A 242s before? They were the shiznit in their day... Too bad that day's come and gone.

And have you seen the Subaru's they made when the GrpA 240 were wiping the floor with everyone! all I can say is that they Made the Volvo's look pretty :P

Brand loyalty is what it's about :dopey:

Yeah, and now that we said that, I think Volvo owes both of us a brand new S60R/V70R of our choice...
