I have to say I want one of these. Volvos have been getting very sexy these last couple years. Very coupe-ish styling.

If you ignore the two-tone paint job on this concept car, it's easy to visualise the new Volvo C30, which goes on sale late this year.

It's likely to cost from around £15,000 for an entry-level, 100bhp 1.6-litre petrol model, and the new C30 will compete against the likes of the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and Alfa Romeo 147.

Only available in sporty-looking three-door layout, the production version will retain the individual four-seater layout of this concept, which is powered by a 260bhp 2.4-litre petrol engine.

The rear roof-mounted spoiler, deep side sills and aggressive front end you see here are likely to be kept for the range-topping model, which will also use this engine. this C30 should be good for 0-62mph in just six seconds, and looks set to become the fastest hot hatch on the market. It should cost around £24,000 to £25,000.

Much of the cabin is based on that in the company's S40 saloon and V50 estate, so the C30 gets the 'floating' fascia, which offers extra storage space behind the centre panel of controls and switchgear.

Besides the entry-level 1.6- and top-of-the-range 2.4-litre petrol engines, the C30 is also likely to be available with a 125bhp 1.8-litre petrol motor, and as many as three diesels offering 110bhp, 136bhp or 180bhp.

Wow, it's like a backwards buttaface.

That rear is uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugly.

The front and side profiles are excellent. And the interior is sexy as hell. The rear could be easily fixed...but it isn't the worst looking rear of a hot hatch though.

The back really needs to get fixed before it goes to market. It makes the car look really fat. Front looks outstanding though.

The back end isn't bad. Just move the badge and change the colors.

I know high belt-lines and small rear windows are the rage nowadays, but having driven a bunch of those new "sexy" Volvos, I can honestly say that a bigger rear window in a Volvo is definitely an improvement.

What I want to know, is it FWD, RWD or 4WD?

If it's FWD with 260hp then forget it.

Looks good though.

It's a Volvo, it won't be Fwd, I like the front but hate the back.

Apparently it's based on the Focus so will most likely be FWD. However there are rumours of an AWD option ('in-car' i guess). Might be quite a nice runner with AWD, even if it does look a little risky from the back and boring-volvo from the front.

Since its based on the C1/P1 platform the front section should be very similiar to S40/V50. It would be likely to have the same engines and drivetrain layouts as the S40/V50/C70.

There is going to be an awd version available with the 260hp engine and maybe some of the other less powerful ones aswell.

I really like it, the syling too..( and that colour of two tonn looks sweet ) Premium hatches don't sell that well in North America, but I am sure if this comes, and already having the A3 and a few others, maybe we'll wise up.

Who stole my TV remote and put it on the dash?:odd:

Yeah, not sure about that rear, i think it lets the car down, gimmie a C70 anyday!

the rear is great if you like practicality....fantastic view out the rear for everyday driving / parking lots....flares out near the bottom = more floor space...
