1988 McLaren MP4/4 vs 1986 Lotus 98T

With the McLaren snatching defeat from the jaws of victory,
it's commiserations to the MP4/4 but we're set up for an exciting third placed play-off.

Marlboro or JPS?
Low-slung sidepods or sleek lines?

You decide.

I'm surprised the MP4/5 didn't get a look in whatsoever while the MP4/4 managed to bag a play-off spot. Not that I think that anything McLaren put out during the '80s warrants a nomination.

I just don't get why people love the looks of the MP4/4 so much. It's not even the best looking car from 1988, never mind the whole decade.
I feel pretty much the same about the Brabham BT52. For me, the Brabham looks like a design from the late 70's, rather than something from the 80's.

- A Refinement of the Brabham BT55 concept versus a car with gold wheels...

The Big black void on the side of the nose, sort of spoils the livery which is eye catching but not in the sublime way the JPS livery just looks like it was born to be on a race car.

Commiserations to both cars for not making the final but congratulations to the McLaren MP4/4 and the bronze medal.

Thanks for voting. 👍
