VRC vs. Obutto vs. ???

So I found myself in the market for a new cockpit. The pieced together setup that I normally use is just no longer cutting it. I got a few friends to pitch in towards a VRC as my sole Christmas present (www.bobearlracing.com), so I've been all kinds of happy about it as this is a great cockpit. Then I got an email from the company saying that the shipment they received from their distributor was extremely sub-par and that the next batch of cockpits won't be here until Feb. at the earliest. Currently I'm waiting to hear back to find out what kind of failings the shipment had. If it's just cosmetic damage, I'll live with it. I'm not that worried about it.

So for the purpose of this thread, we'll assume the VRC is completely unavailable 'til Feb, and here's where I'm at with this right now: I can sit it out and wait for the VRC. I know it's a quality product, and having spent the bucks on a G25, I want a good cockpit (finally), and I need the shifter mount.

-or-

I could spring for an Obutto. They're considerably less expensive, I just haven't heard a whole lot about them. One of the things I like about the VRC is the stability of the wheel during "spirited" driving. Plus, I we all know how people new to a G25 can be...:scared: Anyone know how the Obutto compares? I think I kinda dig the seating position of the VRC a little more, but I can see where the Obutto would be more comfortable during endurance races. Any input you guys could provide would be great!

-or-

??? I'm open to ideas here. If you know of a QUALITY setup to be had for around or less than $400 shipped, let me know! And as I mentioned before, I'll need a mount for the G25 shifter.

-or-

I could just build one myself. I could build it out of wood, but I really like the look of the metal ones better. Besides, I've already resigned myself to spending $400 on a cockpit, so building instead of buying seems like time that could be better spent gaming. :D

****.....im in the market as wel and this will be my first and last cockpit purchase......and i want the g25 setup......but i want something offical.....i wonder if they're gonna drop something thats the only reason why im holding off.......

I don't think they'll release a cockpit, but if they release a wheel at all, it's likely to just be a rebadged G25. Either way we're probably facing a year before the game (and any perhiperals like a wheel) come out, so if I were you, I'd snag a G25 till then. As for the cockpit...*shrug* maybe if I get some input from here, it'll help us both.👍

Yup cuz i was shocked when i saw how much they wanted for the sparco cockpit and my first thought was ( Hell NO) it doesnt even support a clutch.
But i got in contact with the company that makes the offical sparco cockpit and they said they dont know if they're gonna do another run of cockpits. they need to drop the prices on those bitches.....For God Sakes We Need An Inside Source...:dunce:

Ok, so it turned out that the VRC was completely unavailable until FEB. So I went with the Obutto oZone.

I've emailed them a few times with questions, and received nothing but quick, informative responses. They offer air or ground shipping, and with their current scratch n dent inventory, it only cost me $245 shipped. 👍 I dare someone to find a better deal! And this is including the shifter mount for the G25, a fully adjustable seat and wheel mount, and a keyboard stand so you can use it with your PC as well. Plus, the shifter mount is reversible for all us people that drive on the right side of the road. As soon as it comes in, I'll be posting a full review.

I dont know i think im gonna go with the VRC. I guess im in no rush. I just need a G25 for now.

I thought about waiting, but after looking at the two side by side, I just about kicked my own @ss. The oZone has a 1000% better seat, easier ingress/egress, cheaper, and no wait. Nothing wrong with the VRC, I just honestly feel the Obutto is the better product. Plus, if you look at the heel pad (needed for the G25 pedals) on the VRC, your heels sit higher than your @ss. When I thought about sitting like that for 5-6hours straight... no thanks. But go with what you want, bro. It's your dollar. 👍

Man i just need a solid product bcuz it not like you can buy different cockpits if they dont workout. Your an honest guy so i would like to hear the pro's and con's about the setup when you get it.👍

Unless mobility or storage is an issue why anyone would choose the bob earl cockpit over the obutto? It has no advantages whatsoever except that and you are paying more for less...

I may be wrong but I would choose the playseat evo or even the Rhinosuit over Bob Earls cockpit if I want something mobile :). No neck support okay when you are racing but do you never just sit in it watching movies or something? It´s awesome to have a comfortable chair then.

I liked the stability of the Bob Earl one. I could see in the design, and read numerous comments from customers as to how stable the wheel support was, even in hand over hand turning. I wasn't really sure about the strength of the metal, or the angle of the wheel support tubing on the Obutto. But it all worked out in the end. :D
