With custom lobbies arriving soon, I thought I'd be the first one out the door with providing GTP members with clean, serious online racing championships.

General info about the Racing Series:
This Racing Series will feature a variety of championships, with individual races lasting between 10-60 minutes. Races will usually be hosted on friday/saturday evenings in GMT time. All times posted by me are in the 24 hour format, and using GMT. During Summer time, everyone needs to add 1 additional hour to the posted GMT time.

Should you wish to participate in the event, you have to sign up in this thread, or by PM to me. Furthermore you have to attend at least one practice session, in order to prove yourself capable of driving clean and fair. As I've had problems before with people not showing up, the championship format allows for drivers to only sign up to specific races, rather than the entire championship. So, for an example. If you want to attend race 3, 5 and 8, you inform me, and then you'll only be required to attend those races. It goes without saying that if you want a chance to win the overall championship, you'll need to attend most, if not all of the races.

If you sign up, I expect you to be commited. Should something prevent you from joining, you need to PM me as soon as possible. Furthermore, I expect participants to stay up to date on rules, and to not ragequit the race under any circumstances. If you can't follow these simple rules, then please don't sign up. I've had it with people who sign up, only to forget about it the next day. To aid participants in keeping up to date on rule changes, ect. I've created a "conversation" here on GTP, that all participants will be invited to. That way, you won't miss out on important info.

Unique to Driveclub, any time trial in any championship will be forwarded to the participants via the in-game challenge system. Once the challenge expires, participants will then be given points according to their position on the leaderboard.

Participants will aquire points based on the position they finish in, in the different races.

1st receives 15 points.
2nd receives 13 points.
3rd receives 11 points.
4th receives 9 points.
5th receives 7 points.
6th and 7th receives 5 points.
8th, 9th and 10th receives 3 points.
11th and 12th receives 1 point.

* For multi-class races, participants will be fighting for 3 different trophies.
* For the last two trophies, the classes are of course scored seperately.

  • Overall championship champion
  • Class 1 champion (high powered cars)
  • Class 2 champion (lower powered cars)

Points will be allocated after each race, and will be inserted into Google Drive documents for all to see.

Rules and Racing Etiquette:

You will of course do your best to drive clean and fair. You are not allowed to brake test or cut people off. Should you crash into someone, or cause them to spin out, you are required to slow down, and let them pass you. However, if the fault lies with the other driver, you may continue. I realise that this can be very difficult to judge in the heat of the moment, so replays will be used post race do settle any disputes. If you see or experience someone driving dirty, you notify me by PM, and I'll take action. Please inform me of the specific race, lap and turn when informing me of a bad driver. It can also be a good idea to save the replay, just in case I don't have it.

General info about the current championship:

For this championship, we'll be racing the Mini Cooper from the Hot Hatch class around several Norweigian locations. We start off in the quiet Norwegian city of Skjolden, followed by time trials up and down a mountain on two point-2-point courses, and finally, finishing off the championship on a dedicated race track. The skill of the drivers will be tested in adverse race conditions, as they battle the cold and unforgiving mountain climate of Norway.

The only requirements for this championship is a Mini with a racing number on it.

Race 1 - 10 laps of Skjolden - Date/Time November 21st at 15.00GMT

Our first race will take place in the early evening hours in the small town of Skjolden. Filled with both wide and tight turns with very little run off, this track is sure to provide racers with many challenges, as they battle to emerge victorious. It's a fine day to race on, with the weather being as clear as can be.

Participants: 0/12

Race 2 - Point 2 Point Time Trial at Hurrungane Reverse - Date/Time November 21-23

After having completed the first race of the season, the pace changes, as drivers will have to muster all the concentration they can get in order to get the best time on this challenging P2P track. Darkness has engulfed the mountain, and the wind is picking up, taking some dangerous looking clouds with it. The Challenge will be available for 3 days.

Participants: 0/12

Race 3 - Point 2 Point Time Trial at Holmastad - Date/Time November 24-26

The championship continues on as the morning sun welcomes the drivers on their way down the mountain. Just as the one before it, the challenge will be open to participants for 3 days.

Participants 0/12

Race 4 - 25 laps of SKNØ 2 - Date/Time November 28th at 15.00GMT

the last race of the championship is upon us. Starting at noon in-game time, with weather set to dynamic, this endurance race will provide us with an intense ending to what will have hopefully been an enjoyable experience. If the lap restriction of 12 does not change before this race, we'll have to settle for the 12 laps.

Participants 0/12

This is really, really awesome. Great job on putting everything together. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread for when the tourney starts. hope we have private lobbies asap ;)

With custom lobbies being right around the corner, I am bringing this thread back to the front page. Hope that is okay with the mods. I could potentially use some help with testing out the lobbies once they arrive, to see if anything needs to be changed about the races and such. So let me know if you're interested in helping me out.

Update: Done.

Damn, that looks great. You'll win the championship on style alone 👍

I'll get started on testing out the private lobbies first chance I get, but as I've been busy today, and have an 11 hour work shift tomorrow, I estimate that it'll have to wait until wednesday. Suggestions for dates will follow as soon as I've tested how the private lobbies function.

I'm testing out the private lobbies today for the championship, and will be online the next 4-5 hours or so. Anyone wishing to join me in testing, feel free to send me a friend request on PSN.

I wasn't able to actually get a race going today with anyone, however, I did get a look over the various settings available to us, and will make the necessary changes to the championship.

The first race remains the same, however, as the pivate lobbies do not allow for time trials on P2P tracks, we'll have to do those via the Challenge system. Which is fine, although it means that people have have more than one try. It also means I'll need particpants to send me a friend invite, so that I in turn can forward them the challenges. The last race was meant to be an endurance race of 25 laps, but the private lobbeies are currently limited at 12. According to some sources, the lap count in private lobbies are supposed to go up to 25 laps, and is currently limited to 12 because of an oversight on Evo's part. So, if possible, the last race will remain at 25 laps. If not, then we'll just have to settle for 12 laps.

We'll need to find one or two dates where people are available to join for a practice race. This is done in order to check that people have an adequate internet connection,as well as to ensure that people can drive clean and fair.

How does this coming sunday (Nov. 8th) at 12.00GMT sound to everyone who have signed up so far?

As for the races themselves, I was thinking we could host them on saturday the 21st and/or 28th of November at 12.00GMT. If need be, we can move the race back a few hours on the listed dates. Suggestions and feedback is appreciated.

And last, but not least, I'm going to start up an additional 2 championships called VS Racing Sport Series and VS Racing Performance Series, respectively. The threads with the race details should be online friday afternoon.

Count me in

PSN: sems4arsenal , Have a midterm next monday so can't test it there.

Today or tomorrow starting 11 gmt I'm in.

I'm on the same time zone as the UK (GMT) but it's not exactly the best time for me to play at midday.
No chances that it could be done later on the afternoon?

We can push it back a few hours. Not a problem.

About the replays being used post race do settle any disputes, don't forget that the videos have a 15 minute limit.

By the way, my Mini is number 7.

Isn't that only for what the PS4 records? I was under the impression that the in-game replay system went on for as long as the race did.

@InsaneMode2Go

Are you still interested in joining?

@Zonda5 , @Brend , @Thom Lee and @sems4arsenal

Are you all okay with the race dates and times? And are you available for a fairly quick practice session sunday at 12.00GMT? Or perhaps a few hours later on the same day?

I also need confirmation on whether you are participating in all races, or just some of them. And last, I need the race number that you're using for your Mini.

Whenever I'm on a time trial or a multiplayer 10 lap race and it reaches 15m long, I always get a warning that it reached the replay maximum.

The PS4 always records gameplay, however, it has a build in limitation of 15 minutes. What you're seeing should just be the PS4 telling you that you have reached the limit for footage that you might be planning to upload to YouTube. It makes little sense to me that the game itself would have a 15 minut limit on the replays. But I'm not sure.

My number: 94. I will sent you tomorrow a FR!

Yeah, time is fine but I personally like it more if we drive in afternoon like 16:00GTM. But like I said I'll handle it

I was pretty sure that the warning I got was in-game, but now I confirmed it after a multiplayer endurance race at Tamil Nadu 1, I ended 1st with 15:19,029, saved the replay and when I went to see it the replay ended at 15:00,000.

Uhh.... Another poor design decision... Well, lets just hope that no one does something stupid at the 15 minute mark. No other way around it.

I would like to give DRIVECLUB online a chance! And I been looking to race with clean drivers in a 5 to 12 lap race so this club Is PERFECT!!

I will have to check the time diffence and If possible I would like to be part of this...

So, the first race today at 15h00 GMT is still a go?

I hope that I can make it, because I really want to participate. My problem is that since yesterday i have a 2 month old syberian husky and I hope he does not need me exactly at that time. :embarrassed::odd:
I tought that I would not get another 4 leg buddy so soon, if ever again, after my husky passed away with almost 16 years last August, but exactly 3 months later on the 20th, a new family member has arrived! :P

We are indeed racing today. Hopefully, those who've signed up, also show up. It's not a very long race, so we shouldn't have a problem.

Sorry to hear about your old Husky. I miss having a dog, but can't have one in my apartment.
