Was GT2 a steaming piece of poo?

I recently upgraded my entertainment setup from a 13 Admiral tv to a Sony WEGA 27, purchased a PS2 to replace my aging PSX, and a copy of GT3 to go with it.  Last night, I got bored and decided to hook up the 13 tv and the PSX and compare GT2 and GT3...I realized just how bad GT2 looked.  (For the record, GT2 did look slightly better on the Sony 27, but that's beyond the point.)  How did we ever play this pixelated, ugly game?  In particular, it was painfully obvious how bad the frame rates were.  GT3 FOREVER!!!

yea i think some of us forget about how big of a step gt3 is from gt2.....graphically atleast........i can't even play playstation after playing ps2 everything looks horrible

Hi, simple answer, No, Gt2 was and is a very good game, but in the GT series, every new version is a step forward. In maybe 18 months, someone could be asking the same question about GT3.

I guess it seemed phat @ the time...I really should dig up some of the 1st gen Atari games and have myself a real laugh...
