We can get even more out of the 360, says Forza 4 dev

Great, more Gran Turismo bashing.

Of course there's always new ways to push the visuals on the 360, it's been continually progressing as it's life goes on, much like any other console.

AA has plenty of potential for particle effects, but as for memory storage :indiff:

Not sure if take Greenawalt's statements seriously, he is just like Molyneux, lots and lots of pointless talking, however I want to hear more from Bill Giese, he does talk about the game seriously(not sensationalist like Greenwalt, cool guy).

here is some Giese talk, so you guys can differentiate(distinctive from Greenwalts fanboy talks, also to point out that Giese is the actual game designer, which is different from the director role that Greenwalt has, he probably can be attributed the success of the game, because of his planning skills and assets organization, he really do tops Greenwalt's loose expectations and planning).

He just stated the obvious, of course it's always possible to optimize a code since it was firstly written by a human, and hence not perfect. What does Kazunori Yamauchi has to do with this?

I think the only reason he would mention this is the next generation of consoles (at least the ones that matter: XBOX and PS) aren't expected until 2014. Obviously holding with the current Forza release cycle this leaves time for another Forza on 360....

That said, I am not really sure why this quote warranted a new thread...

I'd be afraid they'd run it into the ground if they put out a 5 on 360.

I don't know what Kaz's got to do with this, but, whatever. Also, of course there's still a bit of eye candy to be squeezed out of the 360. However, they've reached the point of diminishing return, in my opinion - it would be way easir to just upgrade to new hardware, and I expect that to happen with FM5.

No, this would disrupt a lot of thing currently.
They would have to integrate the current Xbox Live to the new one in a mannerly way.
After everything people have put in Xbox Live, if they made a new system and didnt include it I'd be pissed.

Xbox Live will always be implemented; the name says it all, really. All your information will most certainly carry over as well.

Sorry, this is what I meant. With the old Xbox I heard nothing was carried over. I have probally 3 thousand dollars of stuff whether it be games, or DLC or just music on my current Xbox 360 so if it reset I'd be UMAD.
Also, I'd be mad if my gamerscore reset, because I have 35k

All that is tied into your Live Account & what not, which is all accessible through the console, Live for Windows, & the main website. Due so, the only thing you'll probably have to do (as you would with a new Xbox 360 if I'm not mistaken) is download your Live Account onto your next console.

All your music & DLC will have to be re-downloaded/saved again to the new console, but in the case of DLC, I think there is a limited number of times you can download it to more than 1 console.

Anyone who's seen the visually gorgeous games from PS2's late era should know that console performance is never maxed out. Devs will always tweak and mess with things to get them to be even better. With that said, Dan Greenwalt is the head of T10, which is an MS exclusive developer and I think he's doing one of those scratch my back I'll scratch yours favors

Sloving the "issue" of re-implementing XBL should be no big deal. First of, why would you even need to create a new account? Doesn't sound like new hardware would require that. Also, increasing the downloadlimit by 1 with the purchase of a NextBox wouldn't be that hard to implement, either. Just include a voucher with a code that enables that function on your account.

The only question is whether the NextBox will be ready by the time FM5 will launch. But I wouldn't be suprised if T10 increased their development time for once to get a launch title for the NextBox ready.

If I knew for sure a FM5 would hit the 360 I'd be inclined to do a 3 screen setup now. In theory I'd just need a 3rd xbox and a 3rd screen but who wants to be moving hardware all around the house. Well I could save the 3 screen races for special nights so setting up once or twice a week for online racing in organized events wouldn't be so bad.

It's the curse of the 5 sequals, I hope T10 never makes a fifth, because it will ruin the series.

Example.

Halo Reach, fifth Halo game made by Bungie. Many fans hated the game.

Gran Turismo 5. Again the fifth in a series franchise, was not well received.

Although then theres the Final Fantasy series, and they've made about 3 million in the franchise.

Halo: Reach was actually quite good, though, in comparison to ODST. Grand Theft Auto has technically already surpassed itself past 5 sequels & nearly every single one has been a commercial hit.

TBH, I don't believe in this "curse". Far, far too many games have done exceptionally well throughout their series.

Test Drive 5 was my favorite of the series and the best Final Fantasy IMO was FF7. It can go either way I think. I know I sure would rather have FM5 than nothing at all when the time comes.

How does Dan have pointless talking?!?

As for Halo Reach, that was the best Halo besides CE.

How does Dan have pointless talking?!?

I don't see it either. Maybe on the lead up to FM3, where the whole Promotion team seemed slightly arrogant, but this time around they seem to be keeping it all in check only talking facts.

This was pointless talking (without even saying any words) IMO http://youtu.be/z8zZ2z-nnvY I couldn't believe EA had the cheek to produce this video

I really love Halo Reach, in fact it has barely come out of my XBOX. Just whenever you go to the Bungie forums all you see are people complaining about the game which is why I actually joined this site.

^ Like GT and FM, it has its weeknesses and its strenghts. But it definitely has its simulation aspects.

Also, what's this "curse about the fifth sequel"? :odd: Some games are doing pretty well, despite that...

The Bungie forums have been like that forever. It's a cesspool.

What astonishes me is that the 360 has generally better graphics than the PS3. I know that this has been a harsh debate at the beginning, and it still is. But let's be honest. I own a PS3 and I don't have 360. I naively believed Sony when they said that their so called nex'gen system was so ahead of any other. The aim of this bashing campaign? Impose blu-ray as the new disc standard; and they won on this part. Except from Final Fantasy 13, I must admit that any other common franchise look much better on the Xbox. And that makes me mad jealous! When it comes to aliasing, frame rate or texture issues, the PS3 can't do better than the 360. what a shame for a system that came out after! The latest screen taken from Forza4 prove that I shouldn't have believed the hype from Sony. How come in two years of development Forza can sport awesome graphics with cars made out of 1 million polygons whereas GT5 took FIVE YEARS with cars that have half less polygons? Kazunori Yamauchi has blamed the hardware again, to explain why he had to make so many compromises (30fps for the replays, aliased and pixelated shadows, poor graphics surroundings...)
It could be true though it doesn't excuse him for taking so long to release half a game. Japanese people are famous for being unable to react quickly to evolving situations. This could explain why so many famous Japanese game franchise are now on the decline...

As for which has better graphics...that is really a subjective discussion. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer with that.

True. Like we say in French "les gouts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas". Too many parameters have to be considered as well. From my experience, a friend of mine brought his 360 to my place (thus same tv settings, same room lightning...) to compare RE5 graphics and I must sadly admit that those from my PS3 looked far less crisper and felt much more "aliased"... Though it would be irrelevant on an objective point of view to compare different games (GT5 vs Forza 4), I think that the cars in Forza look far better; and the number of polygons used to modelise them speak for itself. The tracks also are more impressive. Subjectively, the surroundings of the tracks in GT5 lack "imagination". They're boring and ugly (the plane on the TopGear track wtf!). Sure Nürburgring is perfectly rendered, but Autumn ring, for instance, hasn't evolved since it's PS2 version. Is it a lack of raw power, or is it the fault of PD's programers who can't draw a few leaves that would fly behind my car, a lake that would reflect a glaring sunset, a plane that's about to land to an airport modelised in the back, mountains with trees that move to the wind ("momiji "season is dramatically beautiful in Japan, and very inspiring!)...?
A few example of the very deep gist that lacks in GT5.

I only saw 2 simulation themed games there, no way Shift can be considered a sim.
NEEVERRRRRRRRR

Sad and pathetic statement. I am willing to bet you have not played Shift2.

Except it is.

👍 Sadly T some people wear blinders, and have no idea what they are talking about.

Its relative really. Someone who doesnt like the 5th game in more than one series, can all it a curse. There is a little truth to it in that quite a few 5th titles have not been as well recieved as other. Halo and GT5 are good examples.

But to be honest, its relative to the person.

As far as consoles go, I bought a PS3 first, and was under the impression it was more "powerful" than the Xbox, which I believe is still true. But have seen many titles look better on the box. Shift2 I heard was better looking, Red Dead, and some FPS that I dont care about.

I know there is still much more potential in both systems though, I would just like to see the PS3 "get there".
