Official Test Session Tonight!!!!! memto89 lobby BE THERE!!!!

I should make it, my connection has been bad all month for whatever reason, only way to make it decent is to run a ethernet cable across my living room, which is tricky since its across the floor, I'm gonna put a mat on it, yesterday it was ok but then it randomly disconnected, hopefully it's better today.
The LMP regs suit me because I normally run with 50 50 weight(I usually add 10kg of ballast to the front)So I know how a LMP feels with ballast so I think I could get top 5,maybe top 3,I felt my times were ok yesterday, abit more room for improvement if I avoid crashing

If that is the case then i would be tempted to say you are the one to beat lol... think the only thing i have over you is more understanding through traffic, hopefully be able to use that to my advantage lol

Well kinda,I know I was faster by a small margin, but it took me over 1 hour to find that lap,I improved in the last 2 sectors but I can't seem to match my s2 time from the 1:14.549 lap to improve,I'm 0.4 down at the end of it then I gain 0.2 back,I just need to string it together, discovered that you guys were using the yellow sections on the inside of the corner so I decided to use abit of it and I found some time, but I didn't use it on my best lap,so I think there's 2-4 tenths left in it I think if I use it.I probably hoping with what I have at the moment, maybe a top 3,a win would be tricky, this will be my 1st GTP race and it would be a fairytale to win,but anything could happen,I could get disconnected and that is my main worry since my connection has been lacklustre this month, hopefully it holds up for the race distance. On traffic,it is a new thing to me,so I hope I can keep it tidy,I was abit cautious yesterday because I didn't want to hit anybody on my first time with you guys,it wouldn't be a great start,I'm hoping to get some extra points somewhere e.g Pole and fastest lap, championship wise,I'm on the back foot because I missed the first round, but if it goes well,I might stay for the rest of the season.I needed a new challenge because my friends I used to do races against I would win all the races, they would even ask me to let them win, recently they started biasing themselves, blaming me for crashes that they caused, taking away my wins for doing nothing,I left it and I decided to join this one,to be honest,it's been a great experience so far.I just have to avoid making mistakes, because this track is very unforgiving with the bumps and elevation change so it's easy to lose control, with damage on heavy you get punished for a very slight lose of concentration.I need to improve on that.

If you drive with the same aplomb you have for text walls Ninners then we are all screwed

A 1:16 or 17 would be ok as a laptime, that was my best before I started chopping off some time you'll get faster progressively.

Try taking risks on some corners, everybody makes mistakes,I crashed like 5 times trying to get to a high 1:14,when you crash you know how hard you can push through particular corners, try different lines, different gears, and soon you can hook up a good laptime,it took me over an hour to crack a 1:14.549,I couldn't beat it,but I would pick up time in the last sections because I tried different lines and gears in some corners,If I could have hooked them up I could have got a 1:14.1xx,or maybe even better if I add all my best sector times together, there's always time to be found with every lap,you understand new techniques on different corners.I need to improve my ALMS starts too,I went too early and had to back off by then, the front 2 had gone so I need to improve on that.

I'm running about the same time, pretty confident i can make some good progress though

Just done a 1:16.730, but still room for improvement

My comfortable race pace is in the 1:16's as well on Softs. Turned a few flying laps in the 1:15's, but never came close to the 1:14's and i feel if i tried i'd be in the wall pretty quickly.

That R10 is a very difficult car to drive in general compared to other LMP's it seems. So hard to get it balanced and stable over an entire stint. And don't even get me started on how the Medium's feel after a half dozen or so laps...:scared:

Don't forget to study the track for the passing zones as that will be a huge part of the race with all that GTE traffic on this winding, undulating track
I imagine the back straight through the tunnel and up the hill will be the best spot, everywhere else we need to tread carefully. Looking forward to it.
Wish i could be at practices, but i'm working when you guys are running laps :yuck: since i'm 4-5 hours behind you.

Memto, as for track limits, as long as 2 tyres are still on the red/white curbing, we're within track limits correct? (meaning, the red/white curbing is considered part of the track?). I think I read your rules correctly, but just want to confirm.
In the LMP's the first and last chicane are easy to be off track a bit at race pace if one is just slightly off on turn-in timing.

Yea its 2 wheels on the track... tbh though around here in LMP it is fairly easy to be off line and go over turn 3, but i shall view it all on replay and see is anyone is just using it to gain (you can always see the difference between someone who tries to make the corner and someone who just uses it to gain)

Do you have a policy for self penalties? meaning, sometimes when i race, if i inadvertently cut a corner or go off track for whatever reason (daydreaming?), so as to ensure i haven't gained any time i will lift off the throttle for a second or 2. Do you take that into account when reviewing or should i not bother and just take my penalty as they come from the stewards? I just don't want to slow down and then also get a penalty tacked onto it at the end is all.
The goal is not to have any, but i'm just curious of the process and whether I have control over it when i make a mistake.

tbh you would be better taking the penalty, as there have been times where something has stood when someone thought it shouldn't, but my theory is shouldn't have done it in the first place to warrant that response from the stewards lol
