Gonna be honest: The Ferrari event is frustrating. I cannot get the FXX K down enough to use it and there is no point in even trying to use my 458 as while corners (Barely), it'll get buried on the straights. Not sure what to do at this point.

Japanese FF Challenge 450 - Used Suzuki Swift, this one was pretty fun, but not too difficult.
European FR Challenge 550 - Used BMW M3 E36, a bit more difficult, but still fun
American Clubman Cup 700 - Used Chevrolet Corvette C7 ZR1 '19, a bit drifty, but not too drifty.
Vision GT Trophy - Used Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo (Gr.3 Version), a bit underpowered, but really, my biggest mistake was on lap 6, where I misjudged the turn going into the straight through the tunnels, this meant I only got second.
Special Event - Used Ferrari F8 Tributo '19, This car just hates me, and I hate it back. It understeers bad, and drifts when I really don't want it to. I did try the 458 Italia GT4, but it didn't have the speed for the straights.

Try de-tuning the 458 Gr.3 (add weight first) and see how that goes on RH tyres???

The "cheat mode" with the Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars is that they can corner SO MUCH better than the road cars, so you'll make up loads of time cornering. De-tuning it might struggle a little on the straights, but that's why I suggest adding weight first so you still have the power for top speed on that long straight. It might take a balance of tuning down the power and adding weight and moving it around a little until you find a good balance, but that's definitely one way to get and advantage over the road cars.

Not a bad set of challenges this week. Admittedly the Ferrari event is not easy, especially on the straight. Had to reduce aero a bit and play with a gearing a little bit to get even a little bit close.

Suzuka was meh with the Copen. Not the biggest fan of the car, understeers like crazy. Should have used a Honda, they all handle like a dream even in stock form.

The RB Ring was also meh. As much as I love the 300SL, its not the best choice for this event. I barely won it just through the corners, as that's the only place it can even get past the others.

Watkins Glen was a really enjoyable one. Hellcat swapped Challenger with some suspension tuning makes it into a proper hot rod that just slides past the opponents. I love this car.

I got the VGT Bugatti as a prize and have never actually driven it. A lot more than I expected, it's an incredible machine. I should drive it more often.

I decided to be a bit unorthodox and used an older Ferrari. I love how you have to tame them a bit to go fast. Tried it with the Daytona at first, but it really struggled at the straight. The Boxer finally did the job, but just barely. It made for a entertaining race, though.

Maybe you can tell by now, but I love driving the older cars just because they feel a lot lighter and less predictable at times. It's like you're always playing with the steering wheel.

It is Friday morning. Time for a drive. Normal difficulty.

Suzuka - Toyota Aqua S '11 - Threw on some SS tires and drove to an easy win. First ticket obtained.

Red Bull Ring - BMW Z8 '01 - This one was a bit trickier. Left the car unmodified as it was already pretty close to the suggested PP. Eventually managed to catch the leader and get by for the win. Second box checked.

Watkins Glen - Chevrolet Camaro SS '16 - I threw on all the sports-level modifications and SS tires. That brought the PP up to ~630. I was worried it might not be enough, but it turned out to be just right. Fun race to the win. Second ticket obtained.

Deep Forest - Toyota FT-1 VGT - Upgraded the tires to RS. This turned out to be a fun race. I had a great battle with the Porsche, exchanging the lead a bunch of times over the last 3 laps. He'd pass me on the straights, and I'd get by him in the turns. Managed to keep the lead to the finish for the fourth check mark.

Fuji - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - The Dino is not the car for this race. I'd tuned it up last night to get it podium-capable at the Catalunya Ferrari Challenge, but it was a dog in this race. Couldn't make it out of last place. I thought some rubber-banding might kick in at some point, but it never did. The closest I came to overtaking anyone was on the final corner of the final lap, but the P15 car just took off down the straight. Maybe it is possible to get the Dino competitive here, but I didn't bother trying to figure out how.

Fuji - Ferrari LaFerrari '13 - Trying a different car. Added a power restrictor to get it under to 700PP. Left it on SM tires, which made cornering and braking hard to control. It flew on the straights, though. Worked my way up to P3 for the final lap, and was able to convert that into a P2 finish with a pass at the final corner. Good enough for the final ticket. Not sure if I'll go back and try for the win.

The parts ticket gave me a turbo for a GT-R. The car was a Citroen GT Road Car. I already had one, so I sold it for 424,000Cr.

Sorry for OT but I sometimes read things like that here, a car is a dog or a car is a pig, but I have no idea what this means. Anyone care to explain?

I used the 330 P4 '67 in the Ferrari event, because I could run with RH Tyres. It's still a tough race, but was easily faster than a detuned F40 or LaFerrari.

I was losing so much time in the twisty section without race tyres. Sure you're not hitting 200+ on the straight, but laptimes were so much faster.

What a smooth race that was, I even toggled with the camera to get a different view or too, then I found it more distracting, so I went back to the camera angle I felt more comfortable with. I hate I messed up the CRB, but 7k is 7k earned. And the bad thing is I got a 6-star ticket for only tuning parts, thanks PD!

It's basically a comparison to racing a dog or a pig in a horse race - it can't keep up.

I just meant that it was severely under-powered. Not sure how common the expression is outside of my region (Ontario, Canada). Maybe it means different things elsewhere.

I'd say it doesn't handle very well. Don't worry about those dogs while are agile like you see at competitions where they are zig zagging between poles...no they are referring to the other ones, big, cumbersome dogs that love to just lay about. They ain't about to win any sprint races.

Usually, when someone calls a car a dog, they mean to say that the car feels very slow, sluggish and under-powered. Also, the saying could imply that a lot of effort had been expended to make the car go fast, but in spite of that effort, the car is still frustratingly slow.

When I call a car a pig, I mean to say the that car is too heavy and that it handles poorly.

I can only give assumptions for the origins of these terms. The dog expression may come from trying to train a dog to do a task, but no matter what the trainer does, the dog fails to do the task. Meanwhile pigs are seen as massive, clumsy and the very opposite of athletic. Note that this is all from a USA perspective.

Fun Note: the AMG 300 SEL 6.3 is affectionately nicknamed the Red Pig. It was huge and heavy, and many expected it to be slow, but it ended up winning against much lighter cars.

@rheinaoi That's interesting information. Didn't know that AMG car could be nicknamed the Red Pig. Of course a heavy car would be slow, all AMG cars seem to be sluggish too. Anyways, finished Event 2 with a CRB this time. You can see what car I selected for this.




Those first two turns always give me PTSD. I'm worried I'll go offtrack or miss the turn or run into somebody. And it took 2 laps before I saw that I had the fastest lap, I thought it initially showed up after the first lap? Weird.

I think the Ferrari challenge will be the big hurdle for me, it looks like it's gonna be a hard one based on the A.I. difficulty.

I completed the Super Formula race in the WCs last night and won it on my 2nd attempt.

First attempt, I finished 15th and at least 20s off the leader - that was in spite of the fact that I had at least two purple laps and ended up with the Fastest Lap (ca. 1:23.5xx) - I was using RM tyres and Hard difficulty AI. The AI nerfed me coming out of the last hairpin and caused me to spin, but I was still way too slow for Hard AI in any case.

I had no choice really but to switch the AI to Normal difficulty, and this time I won quite comfortably, again on RM tyres and I managed a 1:23.3xx FL - which the AI wasn't getting anywhere near. I did nearly botch it though, as I was very tired and had a horrendous crash at the chicane of death, which cost me 9s - but aside from that, it was pretty easy.

As always I do the weeklies in PSVR2 and in Hard AI difficulty, here's my vehicle choices for this week

Race 1 | full stock Toyota Aqua S (only tyres changed to CS Frome the default CM) - Not a bad car to drive in all honesty. If a bit wayward, I did originally complete this race with a modified Aqua, but went back to see if I could beat it with a mostly stock one, which was easier than I expected

Race 2 | moderately modified Merc 300 SL gullwing on SM tyres - this event sucks, stock M4s are by default 20 pp over the 550pp guideline performance target and there's usually at least 2 AI using an M4, making this one tougher than it needed to be.

Race 3 | highly modified Dodge Viper SRT-10 on SS tyres - okay sure it may not have the downforce capability of the older and newer vipers, but I love this gen viper too much to care. Fairly easy win which was a nice change of pace from the 2nd race

Race 4 | completely stock Skoda VGT (RM tyres) - well this is peculiar...the recent physics / pp changes have reduced its pp by 5 so now it can enter without needing slight nerfs, which made it a monster in this event, was still only able to catch the leader by lap 6 after a few mistakes though, but I do enjoy this car

Race 5 | race gearbox'd Ferrari 330 P4 (still stock RH tyres though) - I did have to add 3 kg of ballast to bring it down with a racing gearbox and downforce adjustments to make it fit within this detestable event, thankfully the car wasn't too bad to drive with the tweaks I made!
