So i have this weird mark on my tv, it's like a massive smudge or a scratch but i can't tell, so i was hoping someone could help me out, The picture quality is not effected at all, and you can only see it when the tv is off or on a black screen but only at certain angles.

TV is a samsung series 40003 LED, if that helps at all.

Apparently there are ways of fixing scratches on the screen with Vaseline and laquer but personally I'd be worried about making it worse.

Was the screen cleaned with something like Windex glass cleaner at any point? The ammonia will mar the finish. In the future, stick with either the type of cleaner that @G.T.Ace mentioned or simply a microfiber cloth.

Not that i know of, the TV was cleaned(gently) with a dry micro fiber cloth, Could this in anyway cause the TV to malfunction? as for the picture quality it's perfectly fine, so it does not appear to be inside on any layers of the screen.

Ill buy a cleaning kit tomorow, iv'e also head to stay away from Monster Screen care products.

But also heard about 50% distilled water and 50% vinegar.

It may be just a smudge. First, clean it with a good screen cleaner or at least dust it so there is nothing there to possibly scratch the surface. Once it's completely dried, use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to buff the screen until it's uniformly smudge free. Smudges like this can appear if you've cleaned the screen and continued rubbing too long but not long enough to buff it completely shiny. It happens to me all the time.

I've never heard about the water/vinegar cleaning method, but one potential issue would be that water & vinegar would be very thin and could run down the screen and get behind it at the bottom (or anywhere really), destroying the panel. That would definitely ruin the picture. Good LCD/Plasma screen cleaning solutions are thick for this very reason.

You could try sandpaper like this poor sod.

do not use sandpaper.

Not to hijack the thread, but is there any way to get black marker off a plasma screen?

Without making it worse with discolouration.
