Weird Problem..can't play!..

After a little while I decided to pick up
my GT4 disc, and start the driving sensation
again...
But it didn't go as planned:
I wait for the Ford GT intro movie to come up
and then I press X. Then the loading screen comes up
with the white thingy at the bottom of my screen spinning
like hell. But rather quickly, that white colour, turns into
a red colour, which can't mean anything good.
So I sit there and wait, take a shower, eat a little bit downstairs
come back to my room, and I still see the same loading screen!

Being really mad, I turn my ps2 off. Then I turn it back on and wait
again for the Ford GT into movie. Trying to be clever, I just let it play.
But what happens...After a couple environments (leafs, canyon...)
with the Ford GT, it freezes....

I looked at my disc, and I can barely see a scratch...
Anyone that can help me..?

Red spinning disk is a disk read error. It means that the ps2 won't read the disk.

Is there any noise coming from the ps2 when this happens?

Do you have the small PS2 or the Fat one?Because if it's the fat one there some chance that your PS2 eye is dirty, it has happened to me the same scenario.

And Fireblast, yea I got the fat one. How do I clean the eye..
I got no probs playing other games though..

Most other games aren't dual-layer DVDs.

What you're encountering is known as the disc read error. There have been zillions of threads posted here on GTPlanet about it, but that's okay, because you probably didn't know what to search for.

Well my Fat PS2 did the same thing as yours, but the difference is that my fat PS2 when I cleaned it, it didn't even wanted to read the CD.....

The way to clean your PS2 's eye(mostly it's because of that... )is to open your PS2.
Then be sure to be carefull with the wire(you don't want to break it!)and then open the disc area and you'lle see the eye.Make sure to clean it with 70% isopropil alcoohol so that you won't worn off your PS2,be sure to dip the Cu-tip in the alcoohol and gentaly clean the laser eye of the PS2.

After put back your PS2 has it were before and try it to see if GT4 works.

If this doesn't work you should check in the forum's advanced search for same problem.Some of them will even lead you to guides to rearange your laser's position near the CD!
